It is often really important to remember the roots of theory - as theory develops do we forget where we are coming from?

Becky B's curator insight, July 8, 2013 9:54 AM

Would it surprise you to learn that Iris is just three years old? Diagnosed with autism in 2011, Iris speaks little and has difficulty interacting with others. But her artwork helps her express herself. Since starting a variety of therapies, she has come to interact more intimately with her parents and to communicate through vocalizations, signs, and, of course, art.

Center for Accessible Living NKY's curator insight, July 9, 2013 7:10 AM

Keep in mind, Iris is just three years old.  She was diagnosed with autism in 2011 and her artwork is her major source of communication.

Olivia Gillingham's curator insight, October 28, 2013 5:20 AM

It's hard to believe that the artist of this painting is just three years old. Young Iris has a diagnosis of Autism, and her expression can be seen more than it can be heard.

Olivia Gillingham's curator insight, October 26, 2013 12:30 PM

Loneliness is a common factor to many with mental or learning difficulties, not just those with Autism. Often, this is difficult to understand as Autism and social anxieties aren't possible to see.
