In Harmony with the Environment: Wind-dyed House, Japan

In Harmony with the Environment: Wind-dyed House, Japan | Top CAD Experts updates | Scoop.it

Wind-dyed House by acaa in Yokosuka Kanagawa, Japan

From the architect:

A residential building located halfway up a cliff, overlooking the ocean. Thick clumps of trees that grow along the slope of the land surrounding the house cast a series of organic silhouettes that make the slope seem to come alive. We decided that the appropriate form to build would be as low-lying as possible, while also allowing the architecture to become embedded in the surrounding landscape according to the contours of the terrain. This would allow us to minimize the impact of the building on its environment.

The design of the walls plays an important role in creating the overall sense of presence that a building projects. As such, we also tried to prevent the walls of this house from becoming surfaces that would obstruct or impede movement and sight. Glass and screens along the enclosed perimeter of the house gives the second floor of this residence a certain transparency. Slender, deep-set eaves cast deep shadows on the facade of the building, softening the impact of the building's physical presence in relation to its environment.

Practical Cabin GJ-9 Concept, Adaptable to Various Natural Settings

Practical Cabin GJ-9 Concept, Adaptable to Various Natural Settings | Top CAD Experts updates | Scoop.it

Norway based Gudmundur Jonsson Arkitektkontor designed the project entitled Cabin GJ-9, a contemporary small home prototype, easily adaptable to a variety of settings. Developed for mass distribution, the concept of Cabin GJ-9 is highly practical and versatile.

Located in Bjergøy, Norway, the cabin displays an inspiring exterior defined by wood, glass and stone, camouflaged in its natural surrounding. Two volumes make up the welcoming home, one of them accommodating the private area, and the other the service zones. Connecting the two, there is a glazed pavilion containing the living and dining space. The interior atmosphere stays true to a cottage-like feel: wood is present throughout, while a stone fireplace and inviting seating units inspire relaxation...

Energy Efficiency, Sustainable And Low Maintenance: Thomas Eco-House

Energy Efficiency, Sustainable And Low Maintenance: Thomas Eco-House | Top CAD Experts updates | Scoop.it

Designs Northwest Architects designed the Thomas Eco-House project- resting on an 11 acre site in the Cascade foothills of Stanwood, the four-story high modern residence overlooks Mt. Rainier and Everett City to the South, while being surrounded by fresh air from wooded hills and native vegetation. The contemporary design is defined by energy efficiency and sustainable low maintenance features. Insulated concrete forms (ICF) – “two layers of rigid form insulation between which concrete is poured” – shaping the residential structure ensure a good thermal and acoustic insulation, while the extensive use of glass captured in between the long lasting and low maintenance stucco-finished walls allow the owners to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

The Rock House in Norway Adjusts to the Terrain...

The Rock House in Norway Adjusts to the Terrain... | Top CAD Experts updates | Scoop.it

The Rock House replaces an older building at the site and had to be well adjusted to the terrain, both in terms of shape, scale, material and color. The house and terraces are partly built upon existing stone walls, the parts of the walls which are new are made of stones from the blasting at the site. The low elongated volume is cut into to allow for wind shielded outdoor areas, embraced by the house itself. These cuts also bring down the scale of the building, and together with the local variations of the section, make the building relate to the surrounding cliff formations.

On the outer perimeter of terraces and pool, a glass fence also protects against wind, but allows for maximum view. The house is clad with Kebony wood, a sustainable process of treating the wood to allow for good durability towards the exposure to salt water...

Sustainable Residence in Germany: The Minimum House

Sustainable Residence in Germany: The Minimum House | Top CAD Experts updates | Scoop.it

The Minimum House was designed by studio Scheidt Kasprusch Architekten and is located in Klausdorf, Germany. The 1,615 square foot contemporary home, structured on two levels, is a prototype for a serial holiday residence. According to the architects, the project is offered under the label “minimumhouse” , all furniture and fittings included: “The concept was developed by the ideal of a house with maximum outdoor impressions and also by making full use of the solar yields for the building. The reflections of glass and light make the three-side glassed building shells appear immaterial. The team consisting of architects, engineers, building physicists and executing companies developed a modular building concept, that allows a contemporary open-plan living with high ecological and economic standards“. Some of the sustainable features of this home include a solar system placed on the extensively vegetated flat roof, a soil sensor, ceiling-mounted radiation heating and controlled ventilation.

mmdm arquitectes

mmdm arquitectes | Top CAD Experts updates | Scoop.it
Obsession for the proper adaptation of the project with the topography+the use of durable materials and clear geometries=a simple and useful architecture.

mmdm arquitectes is an architecture office founded in 2003 by Frans Masana and Joan Dalmases, based on previous collaborations.

The projects that come out of the office have points in common that are the main features of our architecture. On one side, the proper adaptation with the topography to avoid great earthworks and, consequently, an excessive environmental impact. On the other side, the use of durable and not expensive materials that influence both the constructive solutions and the same image of the buildings that we project. Finally, the use of clear geometries in the design of the floor plan and of the volume. The result of this way of projecting is a simple and useful architecture.
