Augmented reality is making some huge inroads in the field of education. More and more teachers are incorporating this relatively new technology in their classrooms. Augmented reality is also redefining the notion of learning by adding a layer of interactivity, engagement and vividness to students learning experiences. Teachers have been using augmented reality in many varied ways and across different school subjects, this post from Edutopia provides some good examples in this regard. The success of AR in education is attributed to the increasing availability of mobile apps designed specifically to help learners leverage the power of AR in their learning.  Below are some very good AR apps to try out with your students. Learning has to be interactive, engaging and personalized. AR apps will be one of the preferred tools.

Here are the Top 100 Tools for Learning 2013 –  the results of the 7th Annual Learning Tools Survey. The list was compiled by Jane Hart from the votes of 500+ learning professionals from 48 countries worldwide. 


“A learning tool is a tool for your own personal or professional learning or one you use for teaching or training.”

Richard Whiteside's insight:

I normally wouldn't share such a big list, but this one is pretty definitive. More for engaging in professional development than using with language learners, but then I suppose that depends on your context and your learners. All these tools are useful to know about for one reason or another.
