Tons of Classroom Examples Using Augmented Reality

Tons of Classroom Examples Using Augmented Reality | Tools in the Classroom | Scoop.it

Augmented reality allows someone to add another layer to an existing image.  For example, imagine holding your phone over a poster on the wall as if you were going to take a photo of that poster, and then instantly a video starts playing to offer you additional information about that particular poster.  Pretty cool, right?  The first time it happens, it seems like magic.

bContext - present on iPad

bContext - present on iPad | Tools in the Classroom | Scoop.it

bContext is an app that actively transforms the way ideas are shared by enlivening static documents with audio, writing, and drawing capabilities.

The app makes it easy for anyone (i.e. designers, architects, consultants, teachers, bloggers, journalists etc.) to add visual and verbal elements to transform complex ideas into engaging communications.

Great app for creating and presenting content using iPad. The app is free to download and use.

Get the app here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bcontext/id515971580?mt=8

Jim Lerman's curator insight, February 11, 2013 8:02 PM

I spent a lot of time checking this app out. It seems to be a really excellent way to create presentations on an iPad and deliver them using a variety of methods -- including screencasting directly from the iPad to any type of device (TV, computer, phone, or other iPads). The demos show uses in dealthcare, education, business, and PR/advertsing. The pricing model is a bit steep for schools, but maybe with enough pressure they will modify that. Looks like an app that offers a great deal of functionality. Do give it a try.

Comment please.

Excellent resource! Lots of generic graphic organizers for students to organize thinking.  Colorful PDFs you can download and type directly in to the boxes.  Look forward to using this with classes!

Good reflection on the need for a faster pace... the gap is still there, let's bridge it!

Carmenne Kalyaniwala-Thapliyal's curator insight, March 26, 2013 6:24 AM

It isn't always easy to bridge the gap. Very often, the age of teachers and the cultural and educational baggage that teachers carry don't always permit easy implementation of new ideas. But yes, that can no longer be an excuse...
