The Ideal Length for All Online Content

The Ideal Length for All Online Content | Social Media in Manufacturing Today | Scoop.it

Every so often when I’m tweeting or emailing, I’ll think: Should I really be writing so much?

I tend to get carried away. And for the times that I do, it sure would be nice to know if all this extra typing is hurting or helping my cause. I want to stand out on social media, but I want to do it in the right way.

Curious, I dug around and found some answers for the ideal lengths of tweets and titles and everything in between. Many of these could have been answered with “it depends,” but where’s the fun in that?

Solid research exists to show the value of writing, tweeting, and posting at certain lengths. We can learn a lot from scientific social media guidelines like these. Here’s the best of what I found.

Interesting. I have to disagree with blog length - 1600 words (about a 7-minute read) might be good for SEO, but it's a long time to expect readers to stay with you. Respect their time and keep it short

Scalability only works with very standardized and repeatable product/services. If you are a customized job shop the scalability of direct SME interaction is limited and ultimately a money losing proposition, unless you bill for it. Think about legal or medical practices where every interaction is likely to be unique.

we need marketing, we need the people customers, employees, freinds. We need relationships. Relationships are build on authenticithy are build on feelings, truth. Not build on hollow frases you have to put in energy in relationships and honesty. Meeting people one way or the other

Mobile Tribes!

Stephen Dale's curator insight, April 20, 8:05 AM

"The next big thing is getting smaller and smaller."

"The first generation of social media touted "networking", but the next generation, raised in always-on connectivity, will embrace ephemerality and digital tribalism. Those users will abandon the major social networks and migrate to more granular mobile villages with simpler ecosystems."

I think these two statements are pretty much spot-on, and will watch with interest as Facebook (and the 'others') tries to look small while continuing to gobble-up anyone and anything that looks like it might threaten its business model. We don't need one all-consuming platform, but that not how FB shareholders view the world.

Interesting times ahead!

What's ahead of us when it comes to web publishing? How will the tools, methods and approaches to design, to create and to package news and information change over the course of the next few years?

In the second part of this article, I am looking at these key trends:

1) Dusk of Blogs
How blogs are changing their role and importance within the information ecosystem.

2) Beyond WordPress
WordPress has been a revolutionary tool for small and large independent web publishers. But in its fantastic growth, it may have lost track of its true original purpose. What's there now to replace it?

3) Instant Publishing
When it comes to publishing online, it's not just "ease of use" that web publishers want. Immediacy, real-time, is the new in high-demand frontier. How rapidly can you go from thinking of a promotion or a new report to actually having a professional-looking page of it online?

4) Invisible UI
Just-in-time interface controls are the future. The time of multiple toolbars with tens of buttons and icons, is definitely over. The new UI is basically invisible... until you need it.

5) Design Intelligence
The web design and publishing ecosystem presently doesn't allow for non-technical people to create and maintain professional-looking websites without having to heavily depend on a web design studio or agency. This is about to change. Rapidly.

6) Design Marketplaces
Big opportunity ahead for those who will make it easy and efficient to find, select and organize the best web design templates available out there in a fast, easy and effective fashion.

Writing Testimonials: Tell Your Story in a Way That Generates Leads | Social Media in Manufacturing Today | Scoop.it

When it comes to content creation, most of the time you have a couple of goals. Good content should be informative, compelling, and it should be building your reputation. One of the best ways to do all three of those things is with testimonials. Testimonials are great ways to showcase your talents as a company without sounding egotistical or obnoxious.

But wait, aren't testimonials all cheesy and boring?

Sure, they can be, but I'm not talking about the three sentence blurb that reads like something out of an infomercial. What I'm talking about are longer pieces of content that are sincere. These type of testimonials work really well as blog posts because the blog format gives you enough space to convey a good amount of information without being overly formal.
Writing a testimonial with that much meat to it can be daunting, which is why I following a simple outline whenever I help our clients solicit testimonials...More...

Why Your Business Needs A Social Media Presence - Two infographics - WordPress Hosting SEO Cloud

Why Your Business Needs A Social Media Presence - Two infographics - WordPress Hosting SEO Cloud | Social Media in Manufacturing Today | Scoop.it

Why Your Business Needs A Business Social Media Presence. Online consumers are more likely to buy things from brands they know or have followed through social media for some time.

An infographic published by Mr. Youth, a word of mouth marketing firm, polled 4500 adults to uncover the impact of social media on purchases. They discovered that social media not only influences brand reputation and PR, but often can lead directly to a sale.

Over 90% of respondents either received or made recommendations to friends and families on Facebook. 65% of these social recommendations directly led to a purchase. On top of that, 80% of those who received a response to a social media post by a brand made a purchase as a result of that interaction.

With numbers as striking you’d think businesses would be quick to comprehend. Yet according to the study, brands only respond to half of their social media posts, divided almost equally between Facebook and Twitter. The full report will be available in two weeks....

Pallab Kakoti's curator insight, March 14, 8:19 AM

#SocialMedia marketing is the lifeline for brands looking to target the online audience for anything from product promos, launch campaigns & many more parallels by leveraging objective, reach & impact. The key is in the analysis to determine the campaign ROI and keeping these dynamics in mind, a business website is the digital connection that businesses must incorporate to nullify reservations about a product purchase by referring to online reviews, product demos, customer experiences and so on.

Work of Mouth marketing is still one of the most influential catalyst that incites intent to check out a new product or brand based on references. A business website is the connection required to establish  a working relationship between the buyer & the seller. By integrating #social sharing icons & buttons, the process to recommend services to friends & family becomes much easier and simpler to complete. This irrevocably creates the influence of digital marketing & social media marketing for brands with instant real time reach & interaction with buyers & random online visitors across the fabric of the web.
