This was an interesting article to me because the makers of Pro Tools challenged everyone to hear the difference between Analog and Digital recordings. They are saying that it's difficult for anyone to tell the difference.

This engineer speaks about first using digital and loving the advantages of being able to edit and such but when working on certain projects he prefers the analog sound, though it can be replicated. He uses the analogy I don't throw away an old pair of shoes because I got a new pair.

Pro Tools has become the industry standard for editing and recording music and sound. It's like comparing MP3 and and an vinyl. Pro Tools enables you to use the different types of equipment in on your computer. One or two connections and you're up and running. Whereas the Recording via analog, you have to have all the essential equipment(i.e. compressor, reverb), money and time to deveolpe your sound. You can't easily edit your mistakes as you could with Pro Tools.

My personal opinion of this article is positive. I agree that analog has a warmer sound but digital recording can simplify so many things, and it also costs a lot less.
