Blogger's Guide to Content Distribution Channels | Pushing Social | To be a good Man | Scoop.it

For startups, distribution channels are where they find new users for products and services. You are familiar with “The Big Three” distribution channels: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

The problem is that the Big Three are charging for access to your potential audience which disqualifies most businesses from using them.

This means your post is reaching a sliver of your targeted audience. There are a few more interesting tactics to maximize your reach on Facebook for example.  But it’s time for you to look for new places to distribute your content....

Students transition from traditional bullying to cyberbullying as they get older

Students transition from traditional bullying to cyberbullying as they get older | To be a good Man | Scoop.it
Students transition from traditional bullying to cyber bullying as they grow up, a new study says.

Wang did find consistency in the type of bullying students engaged in. While traditional bullying decreased as students got older, cyberbullying increased. There was also a considerable increase in bullying from fifth to sixth grade, which Wang believes is due to the transition from elementary to middle school.

Girls More Likely to Experience Cyberbullying

"The study also found that girls were more likely to experience verbal and cyberbullying while boys were more likely to experience physical bullying."

Principals Take Notice

The culture of a school has a lot to do with the amount of bullying. After 9/11 NPR asked several of our Muslim students about how they had been treated. They replied,"Our principal announced that our school would not tolerate intolerance." They went on to report that they had received no mistreatment. Parents set the tone in the home and principals set the tone in a school. Kids learn what we yeah them, whether or not it is our intent to teach. Nothing is an accident.

How To Trick Your Brain To Hold On To Positive Habit Changes

How To Trick Your Brain To Hold On To Positive Habit Changes | To be a good Man | Scoop.it

Nearly half of our everyday behaviors tend to be repeated in the same location almost every day, according to research out of Duke University. That means most of the time we are running on autopilot.

On average, a habit takes more like 66 days to form, with more intensive habits like doing 50 sit-ups every morning taking around 84 days to form, according to research out of University College of London that Dean references in his book. But these figures will often vary greatly from person to person.

Forming habits that stick isn't about finding a magic number. It's about being aware of your behaviors and environment and their effects on your brain. Here are some steps to get started:

SemiWiki - MQTT not IoT “god protocol”, but getting closer

SemiWiki - MQTT not IoT “god protocol”, but getting closer | To be a good Man | Scoop.it

One protocol, and its descendants, drove the success of the World Wide Web. IP, or Internet Protocol, is the basis of every browser connection and the backbone of IT data centers. Some assumed that the Internet of Things would follow suit, with the thought that having an IP address would be a sufficient condition to connect.

The problem on the IoT isn’t IP – the problem is all the stuff layered on top of it. Running protocols such as HTTP, SSL, and XML requires significant compute power and memory space. The average PC, smartphone, or tablet has enough horsepower today to do that, but the average sensor running on a smaller microcontroller does not. (ARM Cortex-M7 (http://www.atmel.com/about/news/release.aspx?reference=tcm:26-63538) notwithstanding.)

To combat that, the industry has spawned a huge list of alternative, mostly non-interoperable IoT protocols.

Incredible Ikea Billboard Tips an Apartment Sideways to Become a Rock-Climbing Wall

Incredible Ikea Billboard Tips an Apartment Sideways to Become a Rock-Climbing Wall | To be a good Man | Scoop.it

Psst, maybe we shouldn't take this apartment—the floor seems kind of slanted.

Ikea promoted the opening of its 30th store in France by building an apartment into a vertical rock-climbing wall. Marketing shop Ubi Bene helped devise the impressive outdoor installation in the city of Clermont-Ferrand.

The wall is 9 meters high by 10 meters wide and fitted with steps and grips, allowing the public to navigate among stylish beds, cabinets, tables, chairs, sofas and accessories. (Using harnesses and with safety personnel on hand, naturally.)

The Swedish retailer's been in fine creative form with its marketing lately. Other notable efforts include lighting a forest with LED lamps to celebrate energy efficient bulbs, pitching its 2015 catalog as "cutting-edge technology" and teaming with Airbnb to give folks a chance to spend a night in one of its stores....
