Also on show was Tictrac, an analytics platform startup that aggregates multiple health and lifestyle signals into a dashboard view with timeline visualization so the user can build individual context about factors in their lifestyle that might be impacting their health — whether that’s how much exercise they’re getting or the number of meetings they have in a week — so they can gain a “complete lifestyle picture”.

The promise of the internet of things is in cheap data, but we need to turn that data into insights to make it useful. And before we do that, we need business models for sharing data.

Tictrac, an app that grabbed my attention earlier this summer when Samsung showed off its platform for tracking fitness information, provides a perfect example. The company’s app was built as a consumer web platform for aggregating a ton of social sensor and fitness data, but consumers don’t pay for it. Instead, big insurance firms and corporations do, according to Jeremy Jauncey, chief revenue officer and co-founder of Tictrac.

CEO of Tictrac Martin Blinder launched the Tictrac personal analytics platform in October at Health 2.0′s Sixth Annual Fall Conference. During the Launch! session, Blinder and nine others gave rapid three and a half-minute demos. The audience voted, and Tictrac was named the Launch! winner. Tictrac integrates with a host of apps like RunKeeper, Foursquare and Withings to become a one stop shop for tracking. What Tictrac really aims to do is show users how one or multiple health measurements influence others. Stay tuned for more new demos from this Launch! session.
