Just a reminder of what's Content Curation: Content Curation is the process to discover, grab and organize digital content for a specific niche or matter.
===> The difference between content curation and content aggregation is that it involves human processes in order to filter and present relevant content. <===

You probably saw the title of this post and thought ‘okay there’s no friggin’ way he’s going to assemble a list of the best 50,000 education apps. But thanks to a partnership between Edudemic and FindTheBest, we’ve done just that. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to build a robust directory of, as of this writing, about 56,000 education apps.
One of the best things the Internet blessed us with (besides Maru the box-loving cat) involves increased educational opportunities for children and adults alike. Although some progress still needs to be made when it comes to accessibility opening lessons up to special needs learners, there are plenty of resources for engaging a wide variety of absorption styles.

When I meet with people and talk about our work, I get asked a lot what technology we use to create interactive and dynamic data visualizations.
At Interactive Things, we have a set of preferred libraries, applications and services that we use regularly in our work. We will select the most fitting tool for the job depending on the requirements of the project. Sometimes a really simple tool is all you need to create something meaningful. On other occasions, a more multifaceted repertoire is needed. But how does one choose the right thing to use? An endless list of every tool available, does not answer that question and a recommendation from a friend is oftentimes more valuable.
That’s why we have put together a selection of tools that we use the most and that we enjoy working with. We called it selection.datavisualization.ch. It includes libraries for plotting data on maps, frameworks for creating charts, graphs and diagrams and tools to simplify the handling of data. Even if you’re not into programming, you’ll find applications that can be used without writing one single line of code. We will keep this list as a living repository and add / remove things as technology develops...
Even if this list is from 2011, you'll find a lot of interesting tools for today. [note mg]

Las herramientas de marcadores sociales facilitan la gestión del contenido, ayudando en el etiquetado, poniendo bookmarklets a disposición en los navegadores (o atajos de teclado) y ayudando también en la socialización de este contenido.

From the article: "The release by Apple of iBooks Author last month begins a year that will see the release of several new tools focused on helping people to create, publish and track their ebooks....
That’s fine insofar as it goes, but if you’re an author or publisher wanting to reach as many people as possible, with limited time and resources to repurpose the same content for different marketplaces, iBooks Author isn’t a great help."
What's interesting instead is the fact that in 2012 we will see more and more tools that will allow you to convert, format and publish your content to ebooks on multiple and competing platforms.
There are several services providing this and more springing up.
You will have tools to track stats of how many ebooks are downloaded and purchased as well as better tools to write, edit, revise and format your ebook.

I selected this article because it is a constant challenge for me as a content curator and I know all of you are dealing with this, some better than others. More to come on this subject in weeks to come.
We're all experiencing this problem, there are some great suggestions to help you navigate all the noise.
"Information Overload is an increasing problem both in the workplace, and in life in general".
The Information Overload Age - This is when your mind is bombarded with images, sounds and sensations that overload the brain.
The root of the problem is that, although computer processing and memory is increasing all the time, the humans that must use the information are not getting any faster.
Effectively, the human mind acts as a bottleneck in the process.
There are some great suggestions on how to work with information overload effectively:
There are no simple solutions but here are some things you can do right now that will help you:
**Spending less time on gaining information that is nice to know and more time on things that we need to know now.
**Focusing on quality of information, rather than quantity.
**A short concise e-mail is more valuable than a long e-mail.Learning how to create better information (this is what Infogineering is about).
**Be direct in what you ask people, so that they can provide short precise answers.
**Single-tasking, and keeping the mind focused on one issue at a time.
****Spending parts of the day disconnected from interruptions (e.g. switch off e-mail, telephones, Web, etc.) so you can fully concentrate for a significant period of time on one thing.
