Disability Empowerment Project in Swat | Facebook

Disability Empowerment Project in Swat | Facebook | iEARN in Action | Scoop.it

In a spam of four years، projects varying from to helping out Sindh Government with their teacher’s training program to volunteering three consecutive summers for teaching English in government schools, I completed about ten projects, each at a different scale. I owe this to iEARN Pakistan that provided me with a platform at such a young age, that I wouldn’t have been able to achieve otherwise.

.... when American Councils announced grants for YES Alumni, I considered it an opportunity to put my skills to test. I wanted to do big, to something that will actually bring a change in the life of someone. I had limited budget, so I had to find just the right project for it. I did my research in terms of looking for the right venture. I contacted different professionals working in the development sector, shared my ideas, jolted down their suggestions. By the end of it, the project that practically sounded impactful was the Disability Empowerment Program.

The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Alumni- Bangladesh observed Global Youth Service Day from April 20-22, 2012. The second phase, under the name ‘Removing Darkness of the Day – Solar Bottle Bulb’ lasted from 5 to 11 September 2012 illuminating over a hundred households in the slum of Kalshi, Mirpur-12, impacting about 600 people. K-L YES Alumnus Gulshan Jubaed Prince and fellow BYEI member Shitab Daiyan Akash initiated the project. New Directions in Social Education Research || Information Age Publishing

New Directions in Social Education Research || Information Age Publishing | iEARN in Action | Scoop.it

As societies strive to empower citizens with the skills, understandings and dispositions needed to operate in an interconnected global age, teachers are being encouraged to help students use technologies to develop new knowledge and foster cross cultural understandings.

As pressures mount for society to equip today’s youth with both the global and digital understandings necessary to confront the challenges of the 21st century, a more thorough analysis must be undertaken to examine the role of technology on student learning (Peters, 2009). This work will highlight the complex, contested, and contingent ways new technologies are being used by today’s youth in a digital and global age. This text will present audiences with in-demand research that investigates the ways in which student use of technology mediates and complicates their learning about the world, its people, and global issues.

Knitting the World Together a Million Relationships at a Time

Knitting the World Together a Million Relationships at a Time | iEARN in Action | Scoop.it

Two global education champions, Asia Society’s Tony Jackson and Soliya’s Lucas Welch, have published blog posts this week that go to heart of the mission of our Connect All Schools consortium. Both posts are stark reminders of how little US and Muslim relations have changed since September 11, 2001. Both posts, however, are also optimistic in how much more capable we are—with new tools, resources, and knowledge—to positively affect these relations.
