Mapping Use & Opinion of Virtual Exchange in International Education
iEARN-USA's insight:

Appreciate that iEARN is recognized as a leader in the field, with our Exchange 2.0 partners at Soliya and Global Nomads.

The survey seems to show a lot of ambivilence from educators and exchange professionals about the role and impact of virtual exchanges. What can IEARN do to help more people learn about the postive impact of virtual exchange?

KL-YES YOUTH EXCHANGE AND STUDY (YES) PROGRAM: Delusion between us and them | iEARN in Action | Scoop.it

Hi.....Hello.... It's me Rameesha Ishtiaq again, and spend 6 month in USA so far, my life is going great in here. And should be because I never believe in media and those thing what people said about other culture and other countries. The thing is in which you really trust? and if you really have an interest to figure-out what the reality is than you need to involve in community, need to meet people not only those who are like you, but some another kind as a religion as a personality as a life style. These thought I have and how can I do al that  staff KL-YES help me a lot. So as a culture exchange student I came here to share the culture with American, everyone who has some misconception about Pakistan. Pakistan because may be most of the people are muslims and some of the American like Muslims (terrorist). I go to high school so best way to define your self in school and make a friend, that's why I joined different kind of clubs after school like I have Asian Club, Honor Society, Community Service and some others.

iEarn Pakistan Changed my life: Exchange year

iEarn Pakistan Changed my life: Exchange year | iEARN in Action | Scoop.it

Exchange is learning to trust. Trust people, who, at first, are only names on a piece of paper, trust that they want the best for you that they care. Trust, that you have the strength to endure a year on your own, endure a year of being apart from everything that mattered to you before. Trust that you will have friends. Trust that everything’s going to be all right. And it is seeing this trust being justified.

Remarks to the Foreign Service Institute Overseas Security Seminar

Remarks to the Foreign Service Institute Overseas Security Seminar | iEARN in Action | Scoop.it

Sec. Kerry:

"But today we also have digital bridges to connect different cultures – and I don’t just mean Facebook and Twitter. The State Department’s Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau runs a virtual exchange program that connects teachers and students in the United States with their counterparts in the Middle East and North Africa. These students are working together online, learning from each other about their cultures and history, and they’re forging lasting relationships.

"So I’m excited to tell you that we are right now working closely with Chris Stevens’s family on a public-private virtual exchange that we’re going to call the Chris Stevens Youth Network. And we believe this can lead to the largest ever increase in people-to-people exchanges between the United States and the Middle East and North Africa. And we believe it will also dramatically increase the number and diversity of young people who have a meaningful cross-cultural experience – the same experience that Chris, and I think all of you understand is so important."

iEARN-USA's insight:

Honored to have Secretary of State Kerry recognize iEARN's efforts to launch the Christopher Stevens Youth Network

The Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards is a global challenge that invites youth to creatively express their vision for driving change in local communities and to present potential solutions through visual storytelling.

My project is called ”Stop bullying” and it’s about people who suffer from depression. The project was created in Adobe Photoshop CS5 using a number of 3 pictures. I used a a few lighting effects and some texts inspired from real life. The message I want to send to everyone, especially teenagers is that bullying can cause a lot of psychological damages, including suicides and we must rise against it.

The Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards is a global challenge that invites youth to creatively express their vision for driving change in local communities and to present potential solutions through visual storytelling.

Life = Smile

We made this video because we think that we are living in a world where people are hating too much, and they're forgeting one important thing in life, which is smiling. People should be happier, but they are always seeing the dark side of everything, and society is every day worse because they are telling people what they think that everyone is supposed to be like, and that's wrong: we all have the right to be what we want to be. We hope that this video, from our point of view, makes all of you to think about what can we do to change this.
