MADRID (Reuters) - Las Vegas Sands (LVS.N) will reveal in September which of Spain's two largest cities, Barcelona or Madrid, it will choose for its massive EuroVegas casino and resort project, the U.S. company's chief operating officer said on Tuesday.


Spain's two rival cities are vying for a planned 12-hotel, six-casino complex that could create a quarter of a million jobs in the country where unemployment tops 24 percent.

William Hills plc is a United Kingdom-based company. The Company is a provider of fixed odds bookmaking services, offering odds and taking bets on a range of sporting and other events, as well as offering amusement with prizes machines and fixed odds betting terminals in licensed betting offices and operating online casino, poker and games sites, as well as two greyhound stadia. The Company offers betting and gaming products to customers through four principal channels, which includes Retail comprising a network of nearly 2,300 outlets throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Interactive betting includes an online sportsbook, arcade games, an online casino, online poker site, online bingo and online skills games. It also includes telephone betting and international businesses, which comprise joint ventures established in Spain and Italy. In July 2008, the Company announced the sale of its interest in William Hill Codere Italia Srl to INTRALOT Italia spa.

Two independent gaming equipment testing laboratories have been registered by the state Gaming Control Board.


Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli said Thursday that Gaming Laboratories International LLC and BMM International LLC are the first companies to be designated to test casino games and systems under legislation signed last year by Gov. Brian Sandoval.

The owner of the Stratosphere hotel-casino in Las Vegas is suing a publicly-traded Seattle company, alleging trademark infringement.


American Casino & Entertainment Properties LLC filed suit Wednesday in federal court in Las Vegas and on Friday a judge issued an order in the case requiring that the website at issue be taken down.

MACAU/LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Billionaire Sheldon Adelson , who became one of the world's richest men by creating a casino empire in Las Vegas and Macau , is doubling down on his bets in Asia , the hottest gambling market on the planet where his Singapore operation made $1 billion the first year it was opened.


The 78-year chairman of Las Vegas Sands , the world's biggest gambling company by market capitalization, looked supremely confident when he opened his new $4.4 billion casino last week in the former Portuguese colony of Macau, the world's largest gambling destination where bettors spent $33.5 billion last year compared to Las Vegas, which took in $6 billion.
