"Green screen is one of the best learning tools in our learning commons. Our students are really making their learning come alive by recording video using the green screen. DoInk has just released a new Green Screen App for the iPad. It is an easy to use App that allows you create green screen in one shot, rather than edit it using iMovie or another video editing application."

3rd Graders Research Animals with 4 iPads, AudioBoo and PebbleGo

3rd Graders Research Animals with 4 iPads, AudioBoo and PebbleGo | Third Grade Web Resources | Scoop.it

This spring semester, 3rd grade students at Shedeck Elementary School in Yukon, Oklahoma, worked with their librarian, Jeannie Wilmes, to conduct “blended research” about different kinds of animals. Their research was “blended” because students used both library books as well as electronic resources like the PebbleGo website and database. Mrs. Wilmes worked with students twice a week for two weeks in this project, which culminated in students audio recording their research using the free iPad app AudioBoo. Students were then able to share their recordings with classmates and with parents online. In this five minute interview video, Mrs. Wilmes and some of the Shedeck third graders describe their project, what they enjoyed and some of their lessons learned.

Via Cyndi Danner-Kuhn
Michelle Cagliano's insight:

PebbleGo is a wonderful website that offers a nonfiction variety of animals and biographies for students to research and learn about.  This is a great teaching tool so that students may utilize technology and learn independently as to create their own knowledge.  The site is easy to navigate, includes vocabulary words with definitions that are read to students if necessary, and printable diagrams.

One other product I have been getting excited about is Verso. This platform is not quite a learning management system, and has built in interactivity. I like it because it is crazy easy to use. It is sort of the anti-LMS way to have students engage with your content.

Reading level - Search Help

Reading level - Search Help | Third Grade Web Resources | Scoop.it
Sometimes you may want to limit your search results to a specific reading level. For example, a second language learner may want more basic sites, a middle school teacher looking for educational material for her students may look for intermediate resources, and a scientist searching for the latest findings from the experts may want to limit results to those at advanced reading levels.

AMPA Santa Teresa. 's curator insight, October 29, 2013 6:30 AM
