The Palace of Inquisition was built to be a eighteenth century torture chamber. The building is now a museum showcasing torture equipment and other artefacts of the time. The Palace of Inquisition faces the Parque de Bolivar, and is considered to be one of Cartagenas finest buildings.

The museum is located in a charming old colonial house on the Plaza Bolivar. The museum has on display some priceless treasures that will give an insight into the pre-Colombian culture of the Caribbean. There are two exhibits that showcase the intricate metallurgical and ceramic arts of the Zenu indigenous Indians that inhabited the area between the Sinu and the Magdalena Rivers about 2,000 years ago.

Plaza de San Diego is a picturesque little square in the Old City of Cartagena with a number of restaurants with outdoor seating. It’s also home to the Sofitel, one of the nicer hotels in Old City. At night, there are lots of people eating outside and drinking at the few bars in the area. Great little spot to check out if you’re in the Old City.
