Nephthys is an ancient Egyptian goddess with wide power and capacity.
She is a member of the Great Ennead of Heliopolis 'Eye of the sun'.
Nephthys is the "Friend of the Dead," and is first mentioned in Old Kingdom funerary literature as riding the "night boat" of the underworld, meeting the deceased king's spirit and accompanying him into "Lightland."
Her hair is metaphorically compared to the strips of cloth which shroud the bodies of the dead.
Nephthys is almost universally depicted as a woman with the hieroglyphic symbols of her name (a basket and a house, stacked on top of each other) situated atop her head, though she can also be depicted as a bird (most often a kite or some other form of falcon/hawk)....
When appearing together with Isis, Nephthys is often represented as a kite, a falcon or a woman with falcon wings.
As the wife of Seth, the god of aridity and storm, Nephtys conceived no children.
Her greatest desire was to have a child by Osiris, so by either getting him drunk or disguising herself as Isis she deceived him.
The fruit of their union was Anubis; but from fear of Seth's vengeance she exposed the infant as soon as he was born.
Soon afterwards Seth murdered Osiris, which caused Nephtys to flee from him.
Nephthys then joined Isis in her search for the remains of the body of Osiris and told her sister about Anubis.
Isis found the baby in the delta marshes when searching for Osiris, and adopted him.
She could also be dangerous, able to kill enemies with her fiery breath....
Her totemic form is Moon...
Nephthys, Isis and Anubis with the help of other supernatural beings created the first mummy....
