Note from the curator of The World of Mobility | The World Of Mobility | Scoop.it

It is said that in the future, internet accessibility will, for the most part, be mobile. We will go from being tied to our desktops and office, to our smart devices (whatever that will be) and on the road. The world is going mobile. In this field, I curate all aspects of mobility from devices to the way we work and play.

Enjoy

Pharma needs to wake up here. New players such as Apple and Android who have not traditionally been the key go-through platforms for us are now serious contenders.

We need to be on the boat, and help mould our future. Standing by and watching can not be a good thing. The journey is what it's about - learning on the way, changing direction when necessary, but understanding why. That knowledge can not be gained on the side-lines.

I can think of several scenarios where Pharma can be part of the scene as a partner/stakeholder! Can't you?

PayPal Predicts the Future of Money - PayPal UK Blog

PayPal Predicts the Future of Money - PayPal UK Blog | The World Of Mobility | Scoop.it
Shirley Williams (appearoo.com/ShirleyWilliams)'s insight:

Some key points are made here from Paypal UK as it relates to mobile retail and cash.

Based on a UK research report, PayPal predicts not only that consumers won’t need cash to go shopping, but they won’t need a wallet at all by 2016. PayPal goes on to say: around 45 million people in the UK use a mobile phone, and 49% of mobile users surveyed use their device to purchase products at least once every three months. But there is still a big demand for in-store purchases too.

It is thought that the uptake of mobile payment technology will increase significantly over the next 4 years. The current thinking is that the lines between the online world and  the physical store front high will soon disappear altogether.

Children born today will become the first ‘cashless generation’. It will be completely natural for them to pay by mobile.

I certainly understand the importance of having a mobility however the current technology seems to be a little clunky. So although these numbers are intriguing and have my attention. I am wondering how the transaction will be streamlined.

How Smart Phones Are Changing the Way We Bank, Drive, Have Sex and Go to the Bathroom | The World Of Mobility | Scoop.it

There is no denying that smart phones are changing the way we work, play and manage our money. Pew Research found that half of American adults own a smart phone and that the rate of ownership is expanding quickly in every age cohort except those 65 and older.

A new category of consumer has emerged known as the “smartphonatic,” defined as someone who changes shopping, banking and payment behavior after switching to a smart phone. Globally, a quarter of smart-phone owners are considered smartphonatics, according to a study by ACI Worldwide and Aite Group. Among this group, 80% use their phone for mobile banking, and 70% use it for mobile payments.

The 2015 Mobile Landscape: Who Are the Major Players and Providers? | Mobile Marketing Watch

The 2015 Mobile Landscape: Who Are the Major Players and Providers? | Mobile Marketing Watch | The World Of Mobility | Scoop.it

There’s a great race going on. It’s the race to get up to speed with mobile, the fastest-growing medium for connecting with consumers around the world.

But for many marketers and media buyers, the world of mobile is still “terra incognita.” Who to call? Where to turn for help? What companies really know what they’re doing out there? Who, in short, are the top dogs in their respective domains?

That’s why Mobile Marketing Watch and Mobile Advertising Watchrecently teamed up to devise a comprehensive list of the major players and influencers who have critical expertise in the mobile landscape in 2015.

In 2015, this is necessary knowledge. Consider this: the global mobile advertising market is expected to hit two significant milestones as early as 2016, according to eMarketer. Mobile should not just reach, but surpass the $100 billion mark in spending. When that happens, mobile will represent at least 50 percent of all digital ad expenditure for the first time in history.

5 Common QR Code Blunders. Make It Consumer Friendly & Worthy | Social Media Pearls | The World Of Mobility | Scoop.it

I cannot speak to other parts of the globe such as Asia where QR codes have been in existence for some time, but in the western world, I think the marketing strategies and value to the customer have not always  been thought through. I use to scan them out of curiosity but have now stopped putting myself in a ridiculous stance until I know there is something of value to scan for. There… value is the operative word. I have seen a number of blunders where work is required by the potential customer only to find the effort was not worth the destination

Smart Phones In The Class Room. Leveraging The Capability | Social Media Pearls

n this newsclip Sidneyeve Matrix shares how mobile devices ie smart phones are changing the way we view education. I found this clip  thought provoking.Similar to how the customer – supplier relationship has changed  with the advent of social media and mobile devices, so has the roles in education. If you think of the teacher as the supplier of education and the student the recipient(customer), these mini computer have helped redefine how one is supplied and/or  received. Like the customer, we have a more “enlightened” student due to information being readily available.  So does that mean education is becoming more of a collaboration in the classroom? Very interesting.

M E D I A i n T O R O N T O: Mobile devices becoming a bigger part of retail: study

Smart devices are becoming like “butlers” to Canadian shoppers, assisting them with everything from finding a retailer’s nearest bricks and mortar location to checking product availability and price.

Eight million Canadians used a smart device to help them shop in the past monthaccording to a recent study by Toronto research firm Solutions Research Group (SRG). The findings have significant implications for retailers, said SRG president Kaan Yigit.
The use of the smartphone has two primary benefits, he said: removing “friction” from the retail experience by letting consumers know where they can find any given retailer and if it has a particular product in stock, and socializing the experience by enabling shoppers to share a potential purchase with their social network to gather opinions.
