A child’s problems in school may be linked to a learning disorder that’s going undetected. Nebraska Public Schools don’t recognize dyslexia as a learning disability and an Omaha child advocate is determined to change that by changing state law.
I am thrilled that this article is written directly to the people that have influence over our children's education - the teachers. I have two boys with dyslexia - one being quite profound - and the damage done to who they are as young men before receiving the appropriate interventions has been horrendous. So many times, the behaviors our children exhibit due to academic failure is looked upon as the reason for not making education progress. Please teachers, take time and get informed. You and your students will forever be changed.

As director, Kathleen, have taught and trained students since 1998 to overcome Dyslexia, The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Philadelphia, since opening in 2007, has offered tutoring services to children and training to educators. Kathleen will discuss the proven research-based, multi-sensory approach to teaching dyslexic children the basic language skills of reading, writing, and spelling.
