The Vampire Diaries
The show is “The vampire diaries”, has long been a unique type of series that I have always been obsessed with as it is different from any other vampire story I encountered previously. Due to its uniqueness it devotes many people in looking at a vampire-human relationship in a different way. Also, not only does the whole idea of the series attract viewer, but also its characters. The fame of these characters makes outsiders get interested in the series and look at it in a different way, such as; the different vampire-human relationship and enabling viewers to have an intensive addiction where they would not miss a Thursday night show. The characters of the series as mentioned in one of my sources (Brief summary and History) are the following “Candice Accola as Caroline Forbes, Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, Joseph Morgan as Klaus, Katerina Graham as Bonnie Bennett, Michael Trevino as Tyler Lockwood, Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert,Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore,Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert, Zach roerig as Matt Donovan, Kayla Ewell as Vicki Donovan,Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman,Sara Canning as Jenna Sommers.” Most importantly the director of the series that conveyed great ideas in making vampires sound very unique is Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, and Caroline Dries, first aired on September 10th 2009 on the CW. Moreover, The Vampire Diaries has a theme that attracts many viewers.
A series of actions taking place around a breath-taking love story between a human (Elena Gilbert) and a vampire (Stephan Salvatore) after the death of Elena gilbert’s parents, while feeling very isolated from the other people in her community. Stephan Salvatore is a newcomer to town; and being there for each other at this very tough phase of life made them fall in love and become the mystic falls cutest couples. As the story progresses, Elena Gilbert turns into a vampire in the latest seasons and is sired to Stephan Salvatore’s brother by the name of Damon Salvatore. She falls inlove with Damon due to the sire bond, but the universe tries to break the bond between them because Stephan And Elena are doppelgangers and by history it is said that they belong together. The message it conveys through the series is that it does not matter who a person is and where they come from, love is still possible no matter the circumstance. It corresponds very well to the audience because many people in that age range may be watching it and going through that situation. Furthermore, the age range corresponds greatly with the time this series is viewed on the CW.
The audience for this show are as mentioned by the source (Rating) “The Vampire Diaries returned up two tenths in 18-49 to a 1.6 and a 1.7 in 18-34.” The range of people watching begin from teenagers to adults. They are two reasons in my opinion. Firstly, It airs on Thursdays at 8:00pm because many adults and teenagers are at home watching television or eating dinner as it is a weekday. Secondly, the reason it begins early on a week day instead of late where only adults are awake is because falling in love is not just for adults, two individuals can get committed at a young age such as teenagers and last for years or sometimes until death does them apart. There is no specific adult age for love, an 18 year old teenager can get committed too as they would be matured enough at that point in time. What provides evidence to the age range point is the advertisements. For instance, during the time of the vampire diaries, advertisements such as; Geico appears which is an insurance company. This is targeted for people that need such a product, like teenagers from the age of 18 and adults that need insurance for cars or houses. Also, an advertisement on Macys products and cards, this is targeted for people that go shopping and are eligible to use these cards after purchasing products from that specific store. Moreover, you can also watch “The Vampire Diaries” through an X-Box, the company is trying to advertise their product so the audience at that age range can purchase it. As mentioned by one of my sources (Media on Games), “Hit primetime series “The Vampire Diaries” will tee off an expanded presence for the CW on X-Box Live via a new app for the broadcaster on the Microsoft-owned gaming console.” All these advertisements put together proves the age range of the audience that would be watching these series at that time of the day.
In conclusion, The Vampire Diaries is a well-known series targeted for the age group 18-49 which is played on Thursday at 10:00pm. The series is a love story, which is not only for adults, but also for teenagers because they both go through the same phase. Moreover, after a long day of work or school, the only thing that is best to do is sit down and watch their favorite TV show The Vampire Diaries while the children are already asleep. Furthermore, The series have a lot of viewers and won one of the best series of the year.
