Ilocos Sur creates tourists adventure zone | MegaScene | The Traveler | Scoop.it

The provincial government is creating an adventure zone at the premises of the historic Abra River located in-between Barangays Banaoang in Santa and Bantay town to attract more tourists to the province.

This involves the construction of zip lines that cross the Abra River and other adventure activities at the site, like rappelling, climbing and kayaking.

Ilocos Sur Governor Luis Chavit Singson said that 15 celebrities participated in the recently concluded “Traverse Ilocos Sur Adventure Challenge: Discover the Wonders of Ilocos Sur.”

Historic Town of Vigan - World Heritage Site - Pictures, info and travel reports

Historic Town of Vigan - World Heritage Site - Pictures, info and travel reports | The Traveler | Scoop.it
Historic Town of Vigan...is the best-preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia, including the historical checkerboard street plan.  One of the joys of Vigan is its old villas (mostly dating from the 19th century), which are open to visitors. You can even stay at one (Villa Angela), which I did and can only recommend. One really feels like the lady or the lord of the manor there, sitting, eating and sleeping at furniture that you normally aren't allowed to touch in a museum.

Exploring Ilocos del Norte | Sun Sea Adventures | The Traveler | Scoop.it

Northern Luzon has much to offer as there are plenty of beaches down south amidst its scattered islands. Up north is a festival of sights, both natural and man-made, those that are made by nature like beaches and landscapes, and those made by man during the Spanish colonial era and before. All of these are tourist assets not only of the province of Ilocos Norte, but the pride of the whole country as well.

Villa Angela Heritage House in Vigan, Ilocos Sur « Sharing my Thoughts

Villa Angela Heritage House in Vigan, Ilocos Sur « Sharing my Thoughts | The Traveler | Scoop.it

During our recent family vacation in Ilocos, we included in the itinerary an overnight stay in Vigan. I was the one tasked to do the bookings, and since there were sixteen of us, there were two considerations: (a) a place big enough to accommodate all of us; and I think most importantly (b) it should be budget-friendly.  So, I did some research, and after browsing thru blogs and forums, I trimmed down my choices to three and finally came up with just one, that is, The Villa Angela Angela Heritage House. Villa Angela is said to be where Tom Cruise stayed in 1989 while shooting his movie, Born on The Fourth of July, ...

Best Philippine Attractions: VIGAN

Best Philippine Attractions: VIGAN | The Traveler | Scoop.it

The Mestizo District in Vigan offers a wonderful glimpse into the Philippines’ colonial past. The ancestral houses were mostly built by Chinese traders using a mixture of local, Asian and Spanish architectural styles. Movie fans recognize the streets from the movie Born on the Fourth of July. If someone looks closely, there are still evidence left from the shooting, e.g. signs in Spanish but hastily and thinly painted over with white paint.  Tom Cruise stayed at Villa Angela during the filming of this movie.

Travel: Northern Luzon - Villa Angela Heritage House | The Traveler | Scoop.it

Located in the central part of Vigan, Villa Angela is a charming, beautiful old house built in the middle of the 18th century. It is filled with traces of the past, as it was not subjected to major renovations since its construction. The two-storey house nestles at the end of a small, quiet garden. A stone staircase leads to a terrace, then to a vast entrance hall divided into several rooms: a spacious and bright music-cum-reading room and four other rooms.
