Clay pottery: A living tradition in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte | The Traveler |

The heritage of pottery making, believed to have started in the 15th century, continues to thrive in this town.  “This municipal hall is made of clay bricks produced by the locals using local materials. It has been more than 100 years since this was constructed and it still serves its purpose until now,” the mayor of San Nicolas proudly remarked.

The school of living tradition of the municipality of San Nicolas has graduated a number of elementary and high-school students who are taught the original and natural way of making pots and clays, assuring that the culture and heritage of pottery making is handed down to the young generation for them to continue.
