Viewing this image has really struck me because it gives me an insight to what it was like to live in a 're-eduaction camp.' I can now imagine the grounds that the young Aboriginal children lived in. It makes me very sad to think what the white Federation people put the Aboriginal community through and when I look at this picture it reminds me of that sadness.
The Stolen Generations (also known as Stolen children) were the children of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent who were removed from their families by the Australian Federal and State government agencies and church missions, under acts of their respective parliaments.
I this this website is easy to use and read information off of. Even though Wikipedia might now always be reliable I think it is an easy way to get a lot of interesting information. This website has given me a good view on The Stolen Generation.
This non-bias artile gives me an overview of the Stolen Generation. It is a good website because it intercates the time period that this terrible act took place in and what happened to the children when they were taken away. I have learnt a lot from this artile and I think it is a great idea for the 'National Sorry Day Committee Inc.' to give the world all this infomation about The Stolen Generation.
This incredible video of Kevin Rudd apologising for The Stolen Generation is a great way to understand the seriousness of what happened to the Aboriginal children and their families during this time. This clip reminds the entire Australian nation and the world that we need to rememeber this time so we never repeat an act like this again.
The Stolen Generations’ Testimonies are video recordings of the personal testimonies of Australia’s Stolen Generations' Survivors.
Tenneka Gorey's insight:
This incredible website gives me information about the actual people who were involved in The Stolen Generation. Each person has their own profile and a video of them giving information about where they were from, where they were sent and their insight to their personal experience. I really enjoyed viewing this website because I enjoyed getting their personal insight.
