Rand Fishkin is going to talk about running some SEO tests.
So it is the case that many of us in the SEO world, and in the web marketing world overall, love to run tests on our websites. Of course, there's great software, like Unbounce or Optimizely, if you want to run conversion-style tests, tests that kind of determine whether users perform better through conversion Funnel X or Funnel Y, or if Title X or Title Y convinces more people to buy.
But SEO tests are particularly insidiously challenging because there are so many components and variables that can go into a test.
Have you ever been to a slow site and it felt like it took hours to load? You look down at your computer clock and really only 30 seconds have gone by. That's just the user experience on a slow site- the real question is “Does your website speed effect your ranking?” Will your slightly slower site be penalized by Google and other search engines when you clients are even looking for you?In this easy to understand graphic, we see that 1 second makes all the difference in the world. The feature has been there for a few months. However, I only became aware of it a day or two ago. Not only does Google surface results for Google+ (public posts and posts shared with you), but it also links to Twitter and Facebook!

Today is a little different. I'm actually not typing at all -- I'm writing this blog post by "talking it" on Evernote. And it only took me ten minutes.
I wanted to test this out because although being a Staff Writer here at HubSpot means I have lots of time to blog, I've also worked at places where I didn't have that luxury. When you're balancing 100 different tasks, it's hard to find time to actually sit down and write. (Or maybe writing just isn't your strongest suit.)Luckily, with a little creativity, it's actually still quite easy for you to blog. So in the spirit of being meta, I'm going to show you how to write a blog post without actually "writing" anything. In just 30 minutes (I added on an extra twenty minutes to give you buffer time for importing, formatting, and editing) you should have a polished draft ready to publish. So let's get to it!...

Today, SEO rankings are a primarily combination of creating and sharing great content, building a web site that works for your visitor, coupled with basic on page SEO best practices we've outlined below.
Social media has not only created a completely new medium for discovering content, it is also transforming how the traditional information sources aka search engines, are delivering content to us.
Recent research suggests that social sharing has now become the number one driver for SEO rank. In other words, Google and Bing are monitoring the social sharing activity for each site and are assigning substantial weight on that activity to determine the search rank.
