Do LinkedIn Endorsements Really Matter?

Do LinkedIn Endorsements Really Matter? | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it
What seemed like a nice gesture from your friendly contact now has been systematized and plagiarized by rule bound logic for you to endorse them back, which can make you feel pretty guilty if you don’t reciprocate right away.
Roger Francis's insight:

I agree with the author. They are trivialising the concept.

10 Tips for an Awesome and SEO-Friendly Blog Post

10 Tips for an Awesome and SEO-Friendly Blog Post | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

Writing a blog post -like all other writing- is a skill. In order to keep your reader interested, you should think about structuring your text and writing in an appealing style. You should help your readers to grasp the main idea of your post by providing headings, subheadings and clear paragraphs. If people understand and like your text, they are much more likely to share, like, tweet and link to your post. And that will increase your rankings! So, in order to improve your ranking in Google, you should definitely try to maximize your writing skills!

For some, writing for SEO purposes and writing to attract and keep attracting your audience could appear as two contradictory goals. However, I totally disagree. Indeed, if you not only want a good but also an SEO-friendly blog post, your text should be written in such a way that the words you want to be found for have a very prominent place. And, using your keywords too often severely damages the readability of your text. So, you definitely should not do that!

(From the article): Adding actual and functional information to your website will give Google the idea that your website is alive. If it’s not an active website, Google will crawl it less often and it might become less appealing to Google to include the page in the search results.

(From the article) How to do you figure out your strategy? The first thing is to fully understand your ideal client and where they hang out. If you sell mostly to women, Pinterest is a good social media choice. If your customers are more the business type, then LinkedIn is a solid choice. Twitter is also very effective when it comes to reaching prospects in real time. And don’t forget Google +, which is growing in clout due to the massive Google search machine behind it.

Get your ideal client firmly in mind, as this person is the foundation. And after that, it becomes a numbers game.

Social Learning – Productivity drain or HR game changer?

Social Learning – Productivity drain or HR game changer? | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

The reality is, 1.5 billion of us use social networking channels on a daily basis, often making the likes of Twitter and YouTube our first port of call for consuming information. It’s therefore no surprise that social technologies have crept into the corporate environment as informal learning mediums over the last few years in particular.

That said, whilst anecdotal evidence among our network suggests employee demand is high for this approach to learning, the majority of HR departments continue to shy away from formally integrating such technologies into their wider L&D strategies.

Why I Connect With Strangers on LinkedIn

Why I Connect With Strangers on LinkedIn | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

Social networks are like any other social environment: No two have exactly the same standards of acceptable behaviour. For good reasons, most of us would think twice before granting a Facebook friend request from a stranger. And since the workplace tends to have more rigid social standards than other areas of life, people commonly assume that their cache of connections on LinkedIn – the leading internet venue for professional networking – should be similarly exclusive, if not more so.

donhornsby's curator insight, September 24, 10:44 AM

Simply put, a social media dashboard makes social media management super-easy. It syncs all your social media accounts in one convenient place.

In its truest sense, a dashboard also allows you to see all your social media analytics at one place, thus eliminating the need to manually go into each account and check what happened in the past week.

A robust dashboard will let you connect with all major social media platforms out there. At the bareminimum, most good tools will sync Facebook, Twitter, Google + and LinkedIn.

Gemma Shannon's curator insight, September 25, 2:34 PM

Social Media Dashboards such as Hootsuite and Buffer can be invaluable when it comes to scheduling content across multiple social media platforms as well as monitoring engagement. Jeff Bullas shares insights into 5 of the best out there.
