For content marketers that are looking to increase content production and save time, content curation is the answer. In addition, your audience will thank you for exposing them to new sources of 3rd party, independent content. In fact, according to a recent study, best-in-class marketers use a content marketing mix of 65% created content and 25% curated content.

25 Of The Best Resources For Teaching With YouTube

25 Of The Best Resources For Teaching With YouTube | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

As both hardware and software design improve, the possibility of mobile learning is increasingly accessible.

Video is undoubtedly at the core of a modern mobile learning experience. (As opposed to, say, an early 20th century “mobile” experience that was likely hands-on, place-based, and experiential.) To actually be useful beyond the cool-video-as-a-writing-prompt-every-once-in-a-while stage is going to require smarter tools. Teachers need to be able to capture, upload, download, edit, slow down, speed up, annotate, curate, share, and otherwise “own” video content so that is fully merges with everything else.

With that in mind, below are 25 of the best resources for teaching with YouTube. Some are web-based, some are apps, and others are guides or tips. Let us know in the comments what your favorites are that we mioght have missed

Business has forever been a world of change. If we think of it, change has been the only constant factor given the proliferation of so many technologies since the last couple of decades. Great info graph to help you get your Twitter account in order. Worth a quick read.

Key Takeaway: Being Twitter worthy takes more effort than you would expect.

This article suggest that if you tweet everyday about a variety of subjects you have a chance of becoming twitter worthy. I find this article interesting considering the 44% of people on twitter who have not even made a single tweet.

Twitter fascinates me. Twitter is the one site on social where you are only allowed to type a limited number of characters. Yet, many people how so much to say on this social media site. It really proves how important your words can be.

Injecting Social Learning into e-Learning Modules

Injecting Social Learning into e-Learning Modules | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

"Picture it. The corporate learning officer calls a meeting to discuss social learning. The good news is that all that nagging and whining from learners got the powers that be finally to recognize the merits of social learning. The bad news is that you have to somehow incorporate social learning into existing eLearning modules. There must be some way to upgrade existing modules without outsourcing this massive project. Of course, but a little help from an experienced vendor can ease the transition while you learn how to practice what you’ve been hoping for—an upgraded eLearning strategy that addresses the needs of your learners."

A Beautiful Visual Explaining The Internet of Things ~ EdTech & MLearning

A Beautiful Visual Explaining The Internet of Things ~ EdTech & MLearning | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it
Internet of Things (IoT) is a relatively new concept that is making such a buzz online. I have come across it in several instances but never really inquired deeply about its meaning. However, today I read a really interesting article by Jacob Morgan entitled " A Simple Explanation of 'The Internet of Things'. In this article, Jacob defined IoT as "the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cell phones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of.  This also applies to components of machines, for example a jet engine of an airplane or the drill of an oil rig."

10 Ways Teachers Can Make The Best of Twitter ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

10 Ways Teachers Can Make The Best of Twitter ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

As a micro-blogging platform, Twitter has rapidly grown to widespread popularity due mainly to its unique features that set it apart from other social networking websites. One of the foundational principles of Twitter and also a key element in its success is brevity. Tweets are limited to 140 characters which is a short portion of text yet a very powerful way to communicate. In a digitally focused world where distractions and short attention span are common currencies, people tend to connect more with short and succinct content, something which Twitter excels at providing.

5 Trends That Will Change How You Use Social Media in 2015

5 Trends That Will Change How You Use Social Media in 2015 | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it
Big changes are afoot for the likes of Twitter, Facebook and others.

This year started with a death sentence for Facebook. In January, a research company called Global Web Index published a study showing that Facebook had lost nearly one-third of its U.S. teen users in the last year. Headlines pronounced the network “dead and buried.”

Fast forward to the present and Facebook is reporting record growth. The company earned $2.96 billion in ad revenue in the third quarter of 2013, up 64 percent from just a year ago. More impressively, the network has added more than 100 million monthly active users in the last year.

All of which goes to show how difficult it can be to predict the future of social media. With that caveat in mind, here’s a look into the crystal ball at five ways social media will (likely) evolve in 2015.

Tumblr and Pinterest now fastest-growing social platforms

Tumblr and Pinterest now fastest-growing social platforms | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

Earlier this year, Instagram was leading the pack as the fastest-growing social platform. Now, it's Tumblr and Pinterest, which have edged out the picture-sharing app for greatest increase in active users.

Tumblr's active users grew by 120% in the last six months, according to new stats released by the Global Web Index first spotted by TechCrunch on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Facebook's active users grew by just 2%.

Pinterest comes in behind Tumblr with a 111% growth in active users, who are users that say they've actually used the site with some regularity. Earlier this year when GWI released numbers, Instagram was on top but has dropped to third place. Of the top eight, in fact, Facebook is in last place, behindLinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Google+.

Still, these numbers only refer to growth. While it's growing fast, Tumblr still comes in at eighth place for active users overall. Facebook maintains a considerable lead when it comes to popularity, but the social network seems like it could be reaching its peak concentration for users. Tumblr's audience also skews young, while Facebook's — more than any other social platform — skews old, according to the data.

Why I Connect With Strangers on LinkedIn

Why I Connect With Strangers on LinkedIn | The Social Network Times | Scoop.it

Social networks are like any other social environment: No two have exactly the same standards of acceptable behaviour. For good reasons, most of us would think twice before granting a Facebook friend request from a stranger. And since the workplace tends to have more rigid social standards than other areas of life, people commonly assume that their cache of connections on LinkedIn – the leading internet venue for professional networking – should be similarly exclusive, if not more so.
