Conceptually, curation has been core business for libraries. Throughout history, a key role for librarians has been to collect, describe and organise information to ensure ease of retrieval and access for users. From the scrolls of Alexandria, to the development of modern public libraries from the late 19th century and ultimately to modern specialist information agency, information professionals have created processes and systems to help others access content.
