USA: Aspartame in Milk Without a Label? Big Dairy Petitions FDA For Approval

USA: Aspartame in Milk Without a Label? Big Dairy Petitions FDA For Approval | The Running Nation | Scoop.it

Two powerful dairy organizations, The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), are petitioning the Food and Drug Administration to allow aspartame and other artificial sweeteners to be added to milk and other dairy products without a label.

They claim that aspartame and other artificial sweeteners would promote healthy eating and be good for school children.

Joe Nimrichter's insight:

Do we really need to know what's in our milk?. Here is a snippet form the article:

"IDFA and NMPF state that the proposed amendments would promote more healthful eating practices and reduce childhood obesity by providing for lower-calorie flavored milk products. They state that lower-calorie flavored milk would particularly benefit school children who, according to IDFA and NMPF, are more inclined to drink flavored milk than unflavored milk at school."

Meanwhile, the FDA comes down hard on raw (pure) milk persecuting anyone selling it.

That is big Ag industry telling the FDA to eliminate the competition while allowing their product to be degraded to the point of becoming worthless garbage.

Oh yes, here is an article with some relevant information about Aspartame, just in case...

I have a pretty small space in my condo to work out and was actually trying to find the best home gym equipment for small spaces. I would prefer not to visit the gym, so this write-up was fitting. Over time, I will save cash on a gym membership, plus driving time, and waiting for machines.

Gym class doesn’t have to be in a gym.
Joe Nimrichter's insight:

Now that is creative! I am all for getting kids active and I also love when we find "out of the box" ways to do it. Bowling sure does beat winters spent in the library.

My thoughts

I think this is a very good article explaining how to get better at running and how to work your way up to becoming a marathon runner if that's ultimately what you want to achieve. I like how it gave you good tips on how to run and tell you what you don't want to do as well.

Joe Nimrichter's insight:

Makes some great points about running outside versus inside. The wind and terrain definitley affect your stride outside. But, I think those are the pros of not having to slog away on a "dreadmill."
