Most of us, these days, would check out the reviews - perhaps on the retailer’s website, or on generic review sites like http://www.reviewcentre.com/ or from specialist magazines. Some would ask in subject-specific forums, Facebook groups or using a suitable Twitter hashtag. You’re likely to find huge amounts of information, but how do you know which is accurate? Which sources are biased towards or away from particular products?

With the availability of information online and on social networks, it's important to provide a good customer experience and treat customer service like a PR strategy.

The question is will the cost savings drive the process or will the desired goal or outcomes of enhanced student learning drive the process. I hope the later with an added benefit of reducing the cost. How will librarians position themselves to be the central information providers for this new mode of education?
