The report is based on survey results from marketers concerning challenges, priorities, tactics, and results.There were 3,570 respondents, consisting of both HubSpot customers and non-customers; employees B2B, B2C, and nonprofit companies; and marketing and sales personnel from various company sizes and job levels. The data has been organized into the four sections of budgeting, planning, execution and measurement. There are many shareable results from the survey. This infographic from Growth Learner highlights the key findings of the 54-page report and will help you plan ahead.

Several surveys in 2014, including those from the CONTENT MARKETING INSTITUTE and EMARKETER, show up to 70% or more of marketers plan to increase spending in content marketing. This is despite recent surveys and reports, such as from FORRESTER, indicating 85% or more find their content marketing somewhat effective, somewhat ineffective, or not effective at all.

I don’t like the term Content Marketing because when it’s used with certain people and/or without proper context, it can cause confusion or be potentially meaningless. It’s a common term among marketers but not my target audience (buyers), i.e. I have never heard a client or prospective client use the term ‘content marketing’.

There are many ways to discuss content's role to drive business. If you are a marketer trying to sell or implement the concept of 'content marketing', know your audience and frame the conversation in a way that makes sense to them.
