Stream New Madrid - Don't Hold Me Now by New West Records from desktop or your mobile device
Richard Becker's insight:
Athens-based indie rock quartet New Madrid announced a third album, magnetkingmagnetqueen, due in April. Taste? 'Don't Hold Me Now' is propelled by skittering drums and lockstep bass and topped off by Phil McGill's mangy singsong. Crazy.
Hailing from the Welsh seaside township of Llandudno, Catfish and The Bottlemen have been busy in the United Kingdom. They've already earned considerable airtime on British radio. They've already played at festivals in Reading and Leeds. They supported Little Comets and The 1975 on a tour and recently headlined an abbreviated tour of their own.
Sonically inclined indie rockers The Burning Of Rome have taken a detour of sorts since the release of their last album, the considerabley pop-centric With Us. The decision was definitely for the better.
Cloud Seeding blends the talents of Alexa Wilding and Kevin Serra for one single. The track, Mirage, showcases Wilding one off from her solo albums, lending something infinitely more spacious to her sound.
After 20 years in music, the Old 97's say they know a few things about being messed up. Enough so, it seems, that the subject matter of this experience has finally become album material. Most Messed Up is all about bad decisions, bad behavior, and not treating yourself or other people so well.
Slingshot by Left Lane Cruiser is equal parts comedy, heaviness, and guitar licks. The album was recorded long before the band was featured on the hit television show Breaking Bad. Only 200 copies were ever turned out after the session at Temple Recording Studio.
“Cope, to me, means getting by. It means letting go, and being OK with being OK,” says Andy Hull. “You can cope in a positive way when bad things happen or a negative way, and that blend was a big lyrical theme for me on this album.”
Stream Fury by Koji, a playlist by nosleeprecords from desktop or your mobile device
Richard Becker's insight:
'Fury', Koji's latest release, the celebrated songwriter recruited a backing band and recorded with producer Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive, Balance and Composure). Inspired by handful of indie-rock favorites before him, Koji concocted four new tracks that blend elements of indie, power-pop and alternative while remaining true to his signature, heartfelt delivery.
Former Swedish sideproject Greenleaf is back with more righteous rock and roll on their newest album Trails & Passes. The new nine-track album falls well within the band's comfort zone with its consistent heavy groove and always satisfying rumble.
The Columbus, Ohio-based threesome Mount Carmel has one mission. All they want to do is write expressive rock music. And then they only want to play it slowly and smoky like British blues-rock musicians 50 something years ago.
