How Voice Search Will Forever Change SEO

How Voice Search Will Forever Change SEO | The Perfect Storm Team | Scoop.it
'Voice search is the fastest growing type of search. Already, 55% of teens and 41% of adults use voice search on a daily basis, and that number is only growing.

The allure of voice chat is undeniable—it’s faster, it’s hands-free, it lets you multi-task, and (especially among millennials) it’s considered cool. Voice chat is also becoming increasingly reliable as technology improves.

In fact, two years ago word error rate was over 20%, but current speech recognition word error rate is as low as 8%—a huge leap in a short amount of time.

It’s clear that context and conversational search are only to become more important as voice search continues to evolve.

So where does that leave SEO?'

Sanjana Singh's curator insight, March 21, 7:57 AM
While I don't completely agree that content is the new SEO, it's  unquestionable that Google doesn't like manipulating its search results. As far as website rankings are concerned, these should be based on relevance, popularity,  and authenticity of the brand and content therein.

Forget about website rankings for a minute and let's talk about the ranking of content. We know that Google uses various signals to rank some content or blog and these signals include:

A. The age of the blog
B. Traffic on the blog
C. Popularity of the blog
D. Quality of content

These things can further be subdivided into:

A. Variety and useful of content on the blog
B. Social media amplification, shares, outreach, viral-ity
C. Comments, hits, views and likes
D. Trust factor
E. Use experience on the site ( time to download, easy navigability)
F. Link profile and sites linking back to it (as an indicator of usefulness, trust, and popularity)

and many others.

So, we all agree that content is reigning. More so, because apps have also entered into the game of search and visitors entering through apps don't use search engines. So, it's another layer to search, as pointed out by Ilia Markov.

But, more businesses are failing when it comes to content marketing.

Probably, they are not able to do it right. Maybe because, it's not technical and has no written code of conduct.

But, we can still perform better at content marketing, if we get to know what leads us to failure.

My article is an effort to discover what might be going wrong with your content marketing strategy and implementation.

Please click here and yes many thanks to Ilia Markov for enlightening us.

Changing Hero Marketing: Everything Is Everything

Changing Hero Marketing: Everything Is Everything | The Perfect Storm Team | Scoop.it

Thanks to FedEx
Sharing our Hero Marketing Haiku Deck last week with a group of Small to Medium Sized Businesses taught us how to tune the message. We noted how the TACTICS of competing with Amazon sparked real interest.

There are two components to competing with Amazon:

* 4Cs.
* Everything Is Everything.

Four Cs
Content, Customers, Commerce and Community are the four pillars of creating successful online marketing. The Uber-Goal is creating sustainable online community, or a community growing faster than its costs.

You create online community by curating more than you create and moving from US to WE. Content is how you signal customers your site, brands and company GET IT and want to create community.

You know you've created community when following increases, heuristic measures such as time on site, pages viewed and bounce rates improve and your site is getting closer to the magical 50% returning 50% new visitor mix.

Everything Is Everything
We've been struggling to explain how interconnected everything is these days. SEO, content marketing, content curation, email marketing, social media marketing and mobile marketing are working hand in glove now at increasingly faster pace. This more, faster, better loop means today's commerce is tomorrow's content, today's community is tomorrow's customer and round and round like a furious merry go round.

You win hearts, minds and loyalty today by understanding how to work the 4cs into a sustainable online community, a community of advocates wiling  to sacrifice and support you, your brand and ideas.

5-Minute SEO: Learn How To Choose Kick-A$$ Keywords In Less Time Than It Takes To Drink Your Morning Coffee | The Perfect Storm Team | Scoop.it

SEO (Search Engine Optimization for those of us less acronymically inclined) is one of the most hotly debated, widely misunderstood, universally despised marketing techniques.

As you brainstorm your keywords be aware of a few things:

different pages of your site - different keywordstalking about the term “keyword”, think of it more as a phrasethe more specific you get the more likely you’ll be able to optimize successfully for your chosen phrase

7 SEO Mistakes Even SEO Professionals Make

7 SEO Mistakes Even SEO Professionals Make | The Perfect Storm Team | Scoop.it
'There are a few different sides to SEO; there’s a qualitative side to SEO—the quality of your content and the strength of your link profile factor in to how your domain ranks in search engines, but this is a somewhat subjective process.

On the other hand, there’s a quantitative side to SEO—a series of features, setups, and structures your site must exhibit to maximize your chances of getting ranked. There isn’t much room for subjective debate here, and one deviation from the guidelines can cost you, even if only slightly'.

7 SEO Mistakes:

1. Sub-optimal title tags and descriptions
2. Duplicate content
3. ‘Over-optimizing’ keyword usage
4. Focusing on quantity over quality content.
5. Allowing your sitemap to become obsolete
6. Neglecting Google’s diagnostic tools
7. Failing to scale the strategy

Preventing and/or fixing these mistakes isn’t going to magically increase your rankings, and these aren’t the only mistakes you have to watch out for. SEO is an enormous, multifaceted strategy, but the more proactive and the more aware you are, the better chance you’ll have at building solid organic search visibility for the long term. As a general rule, you should always be operating under the assumption that you’re doing something wrong—double check your processes and audit your strategies regularly, as no matter how experienced or knowledgeable you are, there’s always room for improvement.

Why Does Link Building Matter for SEO?

Why Does Link Building Matter for SEO? | The Perfect Storm Team | Scoop.it

'Link building strategies that generated results five years ago will not do the same in 2016.

Furthermore, the way you build links today may not work in your favor in the future. With all this in mind, it would be in your best interest to understand why links (not all types of links) should remain a large part of your SEO strategy.

While you still want to earn as many links as possible, a focus on trust and quality is more important than ever. Quantity and exact match anchor text should take a backseat and not every piece of content attracts links'.
