Create a Picture-Perfect Instagram Presence With 12 Best Instagram Tools

Create a Picture-Perfect Instagram Presence With 12 Best Instagram Tools | The Perfect Storm Team Mobile | Scoop.it

Instagram has no match among photo-sharing social networks, which is why businesses are eager to include it in their social media strategies. It’s taken the network five years since its official launch to begin rolling out advertising, due to the developers’ long-standing goal to make the integration of advertising content into normal browsing experience as seamless and natural as possible.

For businesses, this means that in order to find success on Instagram, they must first get to know the network and its users on their terms. In the past, we have covered essential Instagram elements such as filters, hashtags, and captions; but few Instagram pros manage their presence on the network without some help from hardware and software tools specifically designed for photo sharing.

Whether you’re just getting started with Instagram or need a boost to your follower count, we’ve picked the best Instagram tools to help you manage your photos.

Most of these tools belong to the same four categories: photo and/or video editing, layout, engagement, or metrics. Finally, I’ve thrown in a couple of hardware tools, because let’s face it: even the most skilled iPhoneographers out there need a (steady) helping hand in form of a hardware upgrade....

How to Edit Your Social Activity to Cater to a Mobile Audience

How to Edit Your Social Activity to Cater to a Mobile Audience | The Perfect Storm Team Mobile | Scoop.it

In 2013, 14% had no mobile presence and just 9% were responsive.

Google’s latest algorithm will penalize brands not effectively addressing their mobile consumers’ needs via a mobile-ready site. The easiest way to address this for online retailers is to implement a responsive design.

But let’s take a step back: why is it taking a Google algorithm change to light a fire under the ecommerce industry when it comes to putting mobile first? No, it isn’t that the ecommerce industry is slow to accept disruption or innovation, nor is it that the industry was unaware of the trend. Instead, for most ecommerce companies, the decision to deprioritize mobile-readiness came down to the numbers. Simply put, mobile visitors convert at drastically lower numbers than desktop visitors (0.8% compared to 2.78%, respectively). And, lower conversions means lower revenue...

Android Wear's New Strategy For Success In The Apple Watch Era

Android Wear's New Strategy For Success In The Apple Watch Era | The Perfect Storm Team Mobile | Scoop.it

Although Apple hasn’t revealed any official sales numbers—and says it doesn’t plan to—several unofficial estimates claim that Apple has at least cracked the 1 million sales mark. Google's Android Wear platform only shipped 720,000 units in all of 2014, according to Canalys.

Richard Platt's curator insight, May 8, 11:48 AM

Just as it did with smartphones and tablets, Apple has essentially created the smartwatch market. But don't write off Android Wear just yet. Through a series of seemingly low-key changes, Google is quietly positioning itself for a stronger second act.  -  A few weeks ago, Google announced Android Wear 5.1.1, and while the version number doesn't suggest major improvements, the update will make third-party apps much more useful.  -   When Android Wear first launched, Google seemed to deliberately hide their launcher, preferring that app makers focus on actionable notifications. But developers say Google may have gotten ahead of itself with that plan.  -  "My guess is they went a bit too fast going notification-only, and they found users are confused by the lack of structure," says Q42 developer Taco Ekkel, who created an app for controlling Philips Hue lightbulbs. "The notification-instead-of-apps model is the future, but people (both users and many app developers) need time to get there."

While Google stresses the importance of natural links earned by producing great content, anyone who does a little competitive research knows that competitors who rank on the first page of search does a little more than just that.

Google: More Searches on Mobile than on Desktop

Google: More Searches on Mobile than on Desktop | The Perfect Storm Team Mobile | Scoop.it

According to Google executive Jerry Dischler, searches via mobile devices now outnumber those on desktops and laptops in 10 countries. Those 10 countries include the US and Japan, though Dischler declined to name the other eight. There is nothing surprising about this as the demise of desktop search has been predicted for years.

Google’s Response to the Rise of Mobile Search

Mobile devices have smaller screens, which provide advertisers with less room for keyword-based ads. People who are searching on mobile devices are also usually on the go, which means that they often do not have a lot of time to spend searching for the things that they need. The result is that many of Google’s latest innovations have to do with speeding up the search experience.

In addition to this, users are spending more time in apps than they are in search engines; this is another reason why Google wants to provide them with faster answers to their mobile searches. According to Google’s Blog, consumers have higher expectations than ever and they want everything right and “right away.” The result is that marketers have to answer their needs immediately no matter where they are....
