SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Goal.

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Goal. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
Everyone wants to be successful and, some people would do all to achieve it (...).

A good tool for success is certainly, the goal. As Brian Tracy say:

Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement” Brian Tracy

what makes me say that this topic is sufficiently interesting and important to linger a bit.

All of these goals that will lead us to success!

Introduction

Beyond the basics of goal that he should be SMART: Simple and Specific | Measurable | Achievable | Realistic | Time limited and which is known to most of us, I would like add the emotional meaning of the subject.

Indeed, the act of setting goals is often linked to an emotional process:

  • From needs who are deepest in us;
  • an ambition to be this or that;
  • Or an ego, oversized, who plays tricks on us;

and many other factors.

All these elements combined can significantly change the logic of things and lead us sometimes on unsafe paths and strewn with pitfalls.

When should we have a goal?...

7 Reasons Why a Lifestyle Business is Better

7 Reasons Why a Lifestyle Business is Better | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

I can live anywhere because of my business, although I choose to live in the Alaska of Europe right now, which is weird.

I haven’t figured this one out yet.

But I think it has something to do with me becoming a father next month, and being close to family is always nice.

Ever since I was 18, I’ve always had my goals set on being able to do anything, from anywhere, and at any time.

I began playing poker right out of school at 18. I could take my work anywhere, as long as I had an internet connection and a computer.

What Determines Your Personal Value?

What Determines Your Personal Value? | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

The way we perceive our own worth as a person has a profound influence on every aspect of our life. Today’s culture sends a lot of mixed signals that can easily distort our views about what makes us a worthwhile person.

Unless we develop a well grounded understanding of the true nature of personal value, we will probably end up adopting one or more of these distorted views.

How Self-worth Affects confidence

Our confidence in our own abilities will ultimately be the deciding factor when it comes to taking action and producing results...

Meditation and The Art of Writing

Meditation and The Art of Writing | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

I want to tell you about an invaluable writing asset.

It’s become a non-negotiable element of my writing process, and I hope it becomes the same for you.

Writing is hard work. It’s not hard like electrical engineering (a chapter in my past life), which was a mind-numbing, sleep-depriving, hair-pulling kind of hard.

Writing is more a sweet torture, soreness-post-crazy-workout kind of hard.

You know the routine: The words get stuck. The ideas get jammed. The mind gets cluttered, and you get discouraged.

Do You Make These 5 Mistakes When Trying to Get Paid to Do Work You Love?

Do You Make These 5 Mistakes When Trying to Get Paid to Do Work You Love? | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

What does it take to get paid to do what you love, to follow your passion? Most people don’t get it.

I know, because I was one of those people.

Not everyone is cut out to leave the 9-to-5 environment, and that’s okay, as long as they’re happy. But if you’re frustrated, lost, and confused about how to get paid to do what you love, then read on.

It’s no longer enough to throw a blog up and wait for fame and fortune (was it ever?). You have to be specific, strategic, and willing to take action even when things look grim.

I’ve spent half a decade doing this, and only in the last few years have things started making sense.

One Dozen Simple Stress Busters

One Dozen Simple Stress Busters | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Stress is such a pervasive part of life anymore that some people exist in an ongoing state of “fight or flight.” This is an extremely dangerous condition both emotionally and physically. Prolonged hyper adrenal activity will literally burn you out in a big way.

As much as I appreciate articles on ways to unwind and relax after a stressful day, I think there is another issue that should also be addressed. Instead of just dealing with stress it is also important to get to the source of the problem, and to look for ways to eliminate stress before it even happens...

How to Nip Procrastination in the Bud Once and for All

How to Nip Procrastination in the Bud Once and for All | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Ironically, procrastination is a problem that we all seem to put off dealing with. Many people will keep putting off their obligations for as long as they can, even if they are fully aware that their lives would be so much easier, if only they were able to do everything they want to do on time.

Procrastination is something that affects people of all ages. Many college students put off studying for an exam or writing a paper for as long as they can, and then they have to pull a ridiculous all-nighter to compensate...

18 Minutes : Find Your Focus, Master Distraction and Get the Right Things Done | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

An interesting approach for those who have some difficulties to focus on its key objectives ... short and useful!

This is the third day in a row where I’ve started no less than three activities within 10 minutes and made little progress on any of them. I am distracted. I am frustrated, and I falling behind.

That’s the moment that I glance at my nightstand and see the book “18 Minutes: Find Your Focus, Master Distraction, and Get the Right Things Done” buried under a pile of books and I bring it to the top of the pile. ”A-ha!” I think, “This is exactly what I need to get back on track!”

How To Discover the Greatness Within

How To Discover the Greatness Within | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Within all human beings, no matter what part of the world they’re from, what their environment has been, what culture they come from, what their religious tradition is, there lives a certain kind of greatness. Everyone knows that this greatness lives within them. We call it different things, but the bottom line is that we all have a central wish to be as good, true, kind, and as profitable a human being that we can be. It’s in our very DNA. And that divine code if you will, is the same in every human being. We just dress it differently.

Within every individual there lives a wish to embody something grand, beautiful, kind, true, and loving. None of us – no matter where you go in the world – can escape the need we have to realize the truth of ourselves...

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Be a winner.

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Be a winner. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Be a winner, a pleasant feeling!

Today I want to tell you about a subject that has always held an important place in my heart and this, since my childhood. Yes, I have always been competition oriented. In everything I did, I wanted to be first, what which, as you can imagine, has no been always the case.

It is always the case today, but, it’s no longer in the same way. If in my childhood, it was to win the football, ice hockey game or another competitions like this; today it’s rather more in philosophical activities (…) where I want to have the nose in front!

I have often wondered what made the difference between winners and the others,...

5 Questions To Ask To See If You Are In The Wrong Business

5 Questions To Ask To See If You Are In The Wrong Business | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

“I’m going to build a business!”

These words have a certain magical energy to them. They give every solopreneur, looking to hang out a shingle on the Internet, a sense of being on the same level as a Bill Gates, or a Donald Trump, or a Larry Ellison. The vision of a future business maven who creates an empire and makes a mark in the world.

What’s nice about this dream is that it has a fair chance of coming true… for anyone. Yes, even you and me!

That’s why many call the Internet a “great leveler” that flattens the playing field and gives you a fair shot at massive success.

Still, building a business can be hard work – if you let it...

27 Productivity Killers: Why Nothing Ever Gets Done!

27 Productivity Killers: Why Nothing Ever Gets Done! | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

There is always more to do than time in which to do it. And the more you take on, the more there is to do. You finish one task and six more pop out of no where; it never ends. To toss a major understatement at you - you need to invest your time wisely and that means being productive.

Yes, the dreaded 'P' word. Easier said than done, that's for sure. Sometimes, you just aren’t productive. You want to be, but things seem to never get done.

Here’s why...

What Kills Productivity?

Stop Asking for Permission

Stop Asking for Permission | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

I visited New York City with my mom and younger sister recently. We were walking near Battery Park when we saw a man wearing a clown wig and playing a ukulele- making up songs as people walked by.

It was this man, Freddy Harrington.

To onlookers he was a street musician, a comedian entertaining passers by. But he spoke of things much deeper.

In this video interview, you learn that he is not merely a street musician trying to make a couple bucks to survive, but a high school science teacher with a much deeper message. His message?...

What Does Success Mean to You?

What Does Success Mean to You? | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Success is one of those concepts that we all understand, and yet, in reality it means something different to each individual. What might represent financial abundance to you might represent poverty to someone like Donald Trump.

Your concept of being physically fit is probably not the same as that of an elite Olympic athlete. While swimming a quarter of a mile might represent your new personal best, to someone about to swim the English Channel it doesn’t mean much.

Identify what being successful means to you!

To be successful in any endeavor the first thing we need to do is to identify exactly what success in that area means to you personally...

How to Appreciate the Pain of Financial Problems

How to Appreciate the Pain of Financial Problems | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Coming out of consumer debt (car, credit card, student loans) was an extremely painful experience for me. In fact, I intentionally allowed it to be more painful than necessary by going through the process faster and cutting expenses more deeply. While yes, that’s bordering sadism, my goal was, and still is, to never go back in debt again…EVER!

Although this occurred years ago, I have no problem remembering that discouraging period vividly.
The sacrifices I made, the feelings I sometimes hurt by saying no, and the immense amount of work required to bring my freedom into fruition are all seared into my memory. In short, I am forever scarred by the experience, and that’s fine with me!

10 Wise Lessons: What I Wish I Knew When I Was Younger

10 Wise Lessons: What I Wish I Knew When I Was Younger | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

As I recently celebrated another year of life and am entering a new phase of mid-life (whatever that is) I began to contemplate the lessons that I would pass on to my younger self.

Whether you are young or young at heart, it is never too late to change — or incorporate some new (and better) practices into your daily life.

Here are 10 wise lessons that I wish I knew when I was younger:

1. Don’t worry about what other people think of you.
I used to worry too much what others thought of me, of my decisions and of my actions. Eventually, I came to realize that if you’re wasting too much time seeking validation, respect or approval from others, then you won’t have time to accomplish all that you desire...

29 Reasons Stopping You Moving Forward

29 Reasons Stopping You Moving Forward | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Today I want to share some of the truths I have learned over the years that have stopped me moving forward in life.

Do any of these ring true for you?

1. Perfection – Perfection does not exist. If you accept that everything can be improved upon then perfection cannot exist. Give up the concept of being perfect and get on with your life as best you can.
2. Waiting for the right time – The right time is now, why put it off. If you’ve been waiting for the right time for something and haven’t taken action yet, it’s going to be difficult to start...

Benefits of Simplicity to Productivity

Benefits of Simplicity to Productivity | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
Benefits of Simplicity to Productivity is an article that defines the advantages of keeping things simple and maintaining focus, in order to be more productive. It explains why you can increase productivity by doing less.

Simplicity is often perceived as boring, unattractive and unremarkable. Majority of people want something striking and complicated.

But as Leonardo da Vinci has said, Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Different to the common belief, simplicity is not boring, unattractive or unremarkable. In fact, simplicity represents elegance and complexity...

What's the key to dealing with stress?

What's the key to dealing with stress? | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

A feeling of control.

The Last Psychiatrist illustrates this, highlighting a excerpt from Sebastian Junger's book "War":

The Navy study compared stress levels of the pilots [who have to land on tiny aircraft carrier landing strips] to that of their radar intercept officers, who sat immediately behind them but had no control over the two- man aircraft. The experiment involved taking [cortisol] samples of both men on no- mission days as well as immediately after carrier landings... Radar intercept officers lived day- to- day with higher levels of stress -- possibly due to the fact that their fate was in someone else's hands -- but on mission days the pilots' stress levels were far higher. The huge responsibility borne by the pilots gave them an ease of mind on their days off that they paid for when actually landing the plane...
