Building Self-Confidence - Prepare yourself for success

Building Self-Confidence - Prepare yourself for success | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

From the quietly confident doctor whose advice we rely on, to the charismatic confidence of an inspiring speaker, self-confident people have qualities that everyone admires.

Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives, yet so many people struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle: People who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to become successful.

After all, most people are reluctant to back a project that's being pitched by someone who was nervous, fumbling and overly apologetic.

On the other hand, you might be persuaded by someone who speaks clearly, who holds his or her head high, who answers questions assuredly, and who readily admits when he or she does not know something.

Self-confident people inspire confidence in others: their audience, their peers, their bosses, their customers, and their friends. And gaining the confidence of others is one of the key ways in which a self-confident person finds success.

Leadership mantra : Possible vs Impossible.

Leadership mantra : Possible vs Impossible. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Possible is a state of mind!

You have certainly heard, on numerous occasions, people say, “that’s impossible.” What did you do with that? Here lies the difference between success and failure.

If we listen to such people, it is certain that we will abandon. Otherwise, we will continue and put the odds on our side to make things possible.

We live in a world where pessimism and lack of courage is part of the lives of many people. It’s what makes me say, that here we see clearly the difference between a leader and a follower.

Leadership mantra : Faith

Leadership mantra : Faith | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
Faith or the certainty of its capacity to move towards success.

You know those days when nothing or very little work or we wonder what we did in the world to be in this situation!

During these phases, doubt and despondency can settle transiently, see permanent for some. It is in these moments that faith in our abilities and our values of life becomes important and makes the difference.

“A man of courage is also full of faith.” Marcus Tullius Cicero

Even if faith does not avoid completely doubt, it contributes significantly to the restoration of tranquility, which is more rapid, and largely reduces the frequency of doubts.

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Capacity. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

What is our capacity to do great things? It is very large!

Sometimes I wonder what we mean when we talk about capacity. It is a word that often refers to the obtained results. But for my part, I consider that this is only one basic element which, if used properly, will yield interesting results and, in the contrary, disappointment will be greater.

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Tenacity.

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Tenacity. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Tenacity, a word that can take us very far!

It is an attitude that I used very often in my life and, of course I use it always. Without it, I would have given up many times when I was near the goal, with, probably, some regrets later. But we must distinguish between tenacity and stubbornness. If the first leads most often to the summits, the second would tend to lead us to the disappointment or failure.

In this spirit, what Mia Hamm said is very true:

“I’ve worked too hard and too long to let anything stand in the way of my goals. I will not let my teammates down and I will not let myself down.”

As a leader, we know the difference between tenacity and stubbornness, and we use it wisely to advance, while showing to our team that this attitude makes the difference on the road to success.

Be a winner, a pleasant feeling!

Today I want to tell you about a subject that has always held an important place in my heart and this, since my childhood. Yes, I have always been competition oriented. In everything I did, I wanted to be first, what which, as you can imagine, has no been always the case.

It is always the case today, but, it’s no longer in the same way. If in my childhood, it was to win the football, ice hockey game or another competitions like this; today it’s rather more in philosophical activities (…) where I want to have the nose in front!

I have often wondered what made the difference between winners and the others,...

2 books about brain: What best neuroscientists can teach us about memory, creativity, society, productivity, work & leadership | ZZE.ST - inspiration & lifehacks to make life better | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Not a long time ago I wrote a post about My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor. And during last couple of months I listened to and read 2 more: Brain Rules by John Medina and Your Brain at Work by David Rock. Unlike Jill, they don’t tell their own stories but try to give real life recommendations based on neuroscience research.

John focuses on general principles rules of brain functioning which he covers relatively briefly. David on the other hand provides more of a deep dive in various situations that we face daily, mostly at work but views them through the prism of our brain and its biochemistry. Social concepts, such as status, reward and others are explained through things like oxitocin, dopamin & epinephrin.

Those who find such topics interesting can find my notes below. Plus, a couple of great videos of authors’ talks and one fun Slideshare presentation...

About what noise are we talking about here? There is talk about the discontinuous noise in our head, which is an integral part of our daily live.

Have you ever paid attention, if so, what was his tone? It was a pleasant tone, beautiful, positive or rather, unpleasant, ugly and negative?

Here, you can imagine, is the big difference.

Why am I talking about this today? Just because our attitude is dictated by this dialogue. If you are in the unpleasant and negative plan, it goes without saying that it will be difficult for you, to have a full and balanced life – which should ultimately be the goal of all of us.

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Present. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

The present, the magic moment of life!

Today and now is the first day of our new life. It’s a phrase I heard repeatedly during my life and sometimes I have to remind me to think about it.

All we can do, change and live everyday, is this moment unique where is decided to our present and our future. I like to think that we are writing our book of life, our successes and our happiness, it gives me an incredible sense of freedom and a feeling that everything is possible.

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” Mary Kay Ash

As a leader, we know that things are happening now and that all decisions and actions we do will change our present and our future and that, this is the best way forward and achieve our goals with our team.

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA : Move! | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

[Today 01-27-2012 for practical issues, I decided to integrate the TODAY'S LEADERSHIP MANTRA topics here.]

Move forward, always moves forward, such is life.

When we say that to stop, it’s go to the back, it’s reality. We live in a world where everything goes very fast and where we must be able to be adaptable, to be open to new things and to assimilate them.

What is it that can prevent us from moving forward, if not ourselves, perhaps fear, but as Victor Kiam has well said:

“Even if you fall on your face, you’re still moving forward.”

that should give us enough courage to know that we are moving forward in all cases.

As a leader, we know that the only way to achieve his goal is to start and move constantly. The momentum thus created will also galvanize the team who will be drawn, with you, into the spiral to success.

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Goal.

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Goal. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
Everyone wants to be successful and, some people would do all to achieve it (...).

A good tool for success is certainly, the goal. As Brian Tracy say:

Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement” Brian Tracy

what makes me say that this topic is sufficiently interesting and important to linger a bit.

All of these goals that will lead us to success!

Introduction

Beyond the basics of goal that he should be SMART: Simple and Specific | Measurable | Achievable | Realistic | Time limited and which is known to most of us, I would like add the emotional meaning of the subject.

Indeed, the act of setting goals is often linked to an emotional process:

  • From needs who are deepest in us;
  • an ambition to be this or that;
  • Or an ego, oversized, who plays tricks on us;

and many other factors.

All these elements combined can significantly change the logic of things and lead us sometimes on unsafe paths and strewn with pitfalls.

When should we have a goal?...

Part of performing and succeeding like an Olympian is learning how to unplug from stress: how to create rituals and responses to stress that will help and not hinder you. Athletes like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan have all spoke of their step by step rituals for dealing with pre-game stress. It often will include naps, listening to music, tying their shoes a certain way, joking with other teammates.

You and I go through performance rituals in our personal and professional lives. Would you like to learn how to unplug like a champion? I had the fortune of coming across a very enlightening article at the Huffington Post, and I’d like to share with you what I learned, so that you can continue to take your ‘game’, personal and professional, to the next level this week...
