27 Traits Of Successful People

27 Traits Of Successful People | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Is it really possible to become a successful person in just one day? I actually believe you can become a successful person in just one second.

Why? Because to be a successful person you only have to change your thoughts and start to think like a successful person. Your have to program your brain to respond differently to situations that it was previously refusing.

But how exactly are successful people made and how do they think? I’ve read and studied a lot of books on the subject, as well as experimenting and asking around. The following is list of 27 traits that distinguish successful people from ordinary people. If you take the commitment to apply every day each principle in your life, you’ll start to see amazing results in no time.

  1. They are positive. Successful people don’t let negative events alter their ego. They see the glass half full and not half empty. They are known as the ones who raises positiveness among others. Benefits: other people want to stay with them because they make them feel better.
  2. They say yes to everything. They take every opportunity they can. They are not afraid of doing something new, like giving a talk in public. They take everything like a challenge with themselves...

“Happiness Without a Good Work Ethic Is Pretty Impossible.”

“Happiness Without a Good Work Ethic Is Pretty Impossible.” | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

Hugh is a cartoonist with a wildly popular blog, gapingvoid. He is the master of capturing a large idea in a single drawing, and a great deal of his work focuses on happiness: how to find happiness in work; how to have the courage to be yourself, do what you love, and take risks; how to build a life around your own values, interests, and temperament.

He has a new book, Freedom Is Blogging in Your Underwear, where he explores how blogging, and the intellectual and creative freedom it gives him, changed his life.

Having a blog isn’t the right route to happiness for everyone, of course. But zoikes, it’s a thrilling tool. And his book is really about how to think big for yourself and the possibilities that the internet offers.

3 Things You Can Do Today to Start Living a Happier Life | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

“Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.” Eleanor Roosevelt

Happiness must not always come from big things and events. It can come from smaller, daily habits too.

So today I’d simply like to take a look at 3 quick tips and habits that help me to live a happier life. Pick one and see how it works for you.

Turn Your Bike Around and Pedal

Turn Your Bike Around and Pedal | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

I love the philosophie from this grandmother, she had so right! A great post with a lot of easy to use advices. [note mg]

My grandmother never graduated from high school but she was one of the wisest people I have ever met. Being from rural Georgia, she always had a no-nonsense Southern saying that would cover any disaster.

She would often tell us: If you don’t know, you better ask somebody.

Universal laws are consistent. They work the same way for everyone every time. One of the best ways to learn the outcome of a universal law is simply to let them do the teaching.

  • Learn from the past
  • Learn from others
  • Apply what you learned

Crossing the Bridge

Crossing the Bridge | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

It’s difficult to create a life of abundance until you have a truly inspiring vision of what life will be like on the other side.

Many people try to move towards abundance because they’re fed up with scarcity. They’re tired of working at jobs they semi-dislike just to pay the bills. They notice the years passing and don’t feel they have much to show for it. These people seldom escape that reality, however, because that level of thinking actually reinforces scarcity.

Abundance is much easier to create once you get clear about what you’ll do with it. Why bother with it? Who cares? What will life be like on the other side? Is it just the absence of some annoyances? Is there something more to it?

The Happiness Project: To Be Happier, Write Your Own Set of Personal Commandments. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

One of the most challenging—and most helpful and fun—tasks that I've done as part of my Happiness Project is to write my Twelve Personal Commandments. These aren't specific resolutions, like make my bed, but the overarching principles by which I try to live my life.

It took me several months to come up with this list, and it has been very useful for me to have them identified clearly in my mind. It's a creative way of distilling core values.

To get you started as you think about your own commandments, here are my Twelve Commandments:

How to be Intentionally Happy

How to be Intentionally Happy | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
Although the variability of the happiness set point is currently undergoing more research, Lyubomirsky cites studies that indicate the set point is responsible for 50% of your overall happiness.

What makes you happy?

Money? The newest iPhone? The good health of your family? A promotion at work?

Some interesting work by University of California, Riverside researcher Sonja Lyubomirsky not only suggests where our happiness comes from, but shows how to get more of it.

Pieces of the happiness pie

Dr. Lyubomirsky proposes that there are three components to happiness:

  • A genetically-based “happiness set point”
  • Life circumstances
  • Intentional activities and practices.

She has broken these three areas into percentages regarding how much they are responsible for your happiness.

21 Habits of Happy People

21 Habits of Happy People | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

“Happiness is a habit – cultivate it.” Elbert

Hubbard

Happiness is one aspiration all people share. No one wants to be sad and depressed.

We’ve all seen people who are always happy – even amidst agonizing life trials. I’m not saying happy people don’t feel grief, sorrow or sadness; they just don’t let it overtake their life. The following are 21 things happy people make a habit of doing:

1. Appreciate Life
Be thankful that you woke up alive each morning. Develop a childlike sense of wonder towards life. Focus on the beauty of every living thing. Make the most of each day. Don’t take anything for granted. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

2. Choose Friends Wisely...

Change Any Habit Painlessly: 6 Tips

Change Any Habit Painlessly: 6 Tips | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
Almost everything you currently do... you can do even better. Here's how.

Want to change an old habit? You probably should: One study determined that over 40% of the "decisions" we make every day aren't really decisions.

They're habits.

Much of the time we don't really make decisions. We do what we've done before, and that makes us less productive, less effective, less healthy and fit—less everything—than we could be.

So what can we do? Change an old habit into a new habit.

While changing a habit isn't easy, it is simple—especially if you follow the process described by Charles Duhigg, the author of the bestselling book The Power of Habit. (Definitely worth a read, especially if you want to harness the power of habits to improve not just yourself but also your team or business.)

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Present.

TODAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Present. | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

The present, the magic moment of life!

Today and now is the first day of our new life. It’s a phrase I heard repeatedly during my life and sometimes I have to remind me to think about it.

All we can do, change and live everyday, is this moment unique where is decided to our present and our future. I like to think that we are writing our book of life, our successes and our happiness, it gives me an incredible sense of freedom and a feeling that everything is possible.

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” Mary Kay Ash

As a leader, we know that things are happening now and that all decisions and actions we do will change our present and our future and that, this is the best way forward and achieve our goals with our team.

7 Mental Mistakes That Stop You From Living a Life of Freedom and Peace

7 Mental Mistakes That Stop You From Living a Life of Freedom and Peace | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it

How often do you lament the fact that you’re still not where you want to be?

  • There’s still something missing from your life that if you could get, you’d be happy.
  • Life doesn’t seem fair, and it never works out just the way you want it.

If you identify with any of these statements, then you’re most likely making mental mistakes that may hold you back for the rest of your life. The good news is that since they are mental mistakes, they can be changed, and when changed, your whole life can be changed.

  1. Living in the Future

Do you dream of a better future where you have more money to travel, more time to do what you want, or even a better job? Then you’re falling into the first mental trap, which is giving your attention to a future projection that does not exist.

Why We All Need Advanced Life Skills

Why We All Need Advanced Life Skills | PEOPLE BUILDING | Scoop.it
We all need to learn and benefit from Advanced Life Skills because all life skills are not created equal. Basic life skills are simply not enough.

I am convinced that billions of people feel trapped in a life full of limits and frustrations because they have never been taught the simple skills that have the power to transform almost every aspect of their current situation.

As a result, a life of personal excellence seems like an impossible dream for most. We can easily understand why so many people feel that way when we consider the scarcity of living examples. Most people see very little evidence that a life of extraordinary quality is even possible.

Not all life skills are created equal

So starting today…

  1. Give up trying to be perfect. – The real world doesn’t reward perfectionists, it rewards people who get things done.
  2. Give up comparing yourself to others. – The only person you are competing against is yourself.
  3. Give up dwelling on the past or worrying too much about the future. – Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. Don’t miss it.
  4. Give up complaining. – Do something about it.
  5. Give up holding grudges. – Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness.
