This places the burden of safety on the pedestrian. Now, that may be common sense, but the fact is pedestrian safety is the burden of the motorist precisely because it is the duty of the strong (in this case the motorist) to protect the weak (the pedestrian) -. Twice in the last month I've seen motorists honk at pedestrians for being in the way and I hate this! The motorist should always yield to the pedestrian. I'm sorry that NYC chooses to help the weak fend for themselves instead of cracking down on offending drivers.

Making Room | Blogs | NCRegister.com | The Amused Catholic: an Ezine | Scoop.it

My youngest kids are finally getting the idea that there is a baby—not an image, or a concept, or one of those weird grown-up stories, but an actual human being—inside my belly. They can tell it’s true, because they can see what is unmistakably a little baby butt, bopping around about 18 degrees northwest of what used to be my belly button.

“But—” asked my kids, “But how is there room in there for a whole baby?”

Well, I’ll tell you. There isn’t. There is no room. My midwife said today that she thought baby was “maybe a little on the big side.” Hearing that was like passing a highway sign that warns, “LOW FLYING AIRCRAFT.” Thanks for letting me know, but what am I supposed to do about it? Duck?

Assemblies of God commits entire evangelism budget to converting Madonna - LarkNews.com - A Good Source for Christian News | The Amused Catholic: an Ezine | Scoop.it

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Calling it a “better use of resources,” the General Council of the Assemblies of God voted to spend $2.3 million — their entire annual evangelism budget — on converting Madonna.“Dollar for dollar, this is a great plan,” said AG spokesman Sean Taylor. “If she gets saved, think of the legions of fans that will follow her.”

The novel evangelism attempt will include buying space on every billboard near the singer’s homes in Los Angeles, New York and London. Some billboards will read, “Madonna, we’ve got to talk. God,” and, “Spiritual girl — has a nice ring, doesn’t it?” Each will carry the number for the AG’s prayer line, 1-800-4PRAYER. ....

Happy Catholic: Dr. House wisdom

Dr. House: I'm sure this goes against everything you've been taught but right and wrong do exist. Just because you don't know what the answer is or maybe there's no way you even could know what the answer is doesn't make your answer right or even ok. It's much simpler than that. It's just plain wrong.
