Feeling Good By Doing Good

Feeling Good By Doing Good | The Mindset for the 21st Century | Scoop.it
Karin Sebelin's insight:

The next time you find yourself in a bad mood at work, consider getting up and helping someone with their work. Not only will it enhance productivity and your own social capital, it might also make you feel better! If you witness your employees in a down mood, find ways to get them helping others, or invite them to spend a little time helping you with something you are working on.

What do you think? Please share your thoughts here! Thank you!

Humility – or how important do you take yourself? | Wisdom for Future Leaders

Humility – or how important do you take yourself? | Wisdom for Future Leaders | The Mindset for the 21st Century | Scoop.it
Karin Sebelin's insight:

Since social media we have the possibility to present us and our talent so easily. We are able to show the whole world who we are and what talent is dormant in us. Presenting us feels great and makes happy and proud – thus we invest much time in that presentation. Feelings of “I am important” are the logical consequence. Our mind focuses fully on our own story.

But no one and nothing in the world can be really so important that we forget everything around us.

Only when we see us with humble eyes, are we able to enjoy our life. Then we will detect the beauty of life and will perceive our existence with gratitude, and not with pride. When we learn to say more often “We” instead of “I” and respect other people’s stories as much as our own, we have made a great step towards a new awareness.

WE ARE NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYONE ELSE!

OUR STORY IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN STORIES OF OTHER PEOPLE!

Treating ourselves with respect is enough to master life.

And treating everyone else with respect.

Dropping our self-importance and replacing it through humility leads to inner silence. We are able to see the world with clear eyes. And we see ourselves more clearly as we are. We no longer compare to others and we see others as equal. Humble people don’t see the own success as most important. They help others to become successful, too.

Karin Sebelin's insight:

Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. ~ Thomas Jefferson

Honest hearts produce honest actions. We can fool us for awhile but living in dishonesty to us does not make us happy. We think we are happy, but we are not.

People will judge us by our actions not our intentions.
We may have a heart of gold, but so does a hard-boiled egg.

It all starts with the right thinking ... accepting the truth ...

9 Qualities Of Truly Confident People

9 Qualities Of Truly Confident People | The Mindset for the 21st Century | Scoop.it
Karin Sebelin's insight:

by +Dharmesh Shah, Founder and CTO at HubSpot

What is confidence?

Dharmesh Shah explains confidence like that:
Confidence is quiet:
It’s a natural expression of ability, expertise, and self-regard.

He states 9 qualities of truly confident people:

1. They take a stand not because they think they are always right … but because they are not afraid to be wrong.

2. They listen ten times more than they speak.

3. They duck the spotlight so it shines on others.

4. They freely ask for help.

5. They think, “Why not me?”

6. They don't put down other people.

7. They aren’t afraid to look silly…

8. … And they own their mistakes.

9. They only seek approval from the people who really matter.

My opinion:
I have learned that confidence has nothing to do with "I am the best, I master everything" but with "I trust in my abilities, I am humble and I have faith". Confident people don't need the limelight, they sparkle through what they do.
I like these words here:  "... true validation comes from within."

This is my symphony

This is my symphony | The Mindset for the 21st Century | Scoop.it
Karin Sebelin's insight:

To live content with small means
to seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion
to be worthy, not respectable,
and wealthy, not rich
to listen to stars and birds,
babes and sages, with open heart
to study hard,
to think quietly,
act frankly,
talk gently,
await occasions, hurry never
in a word, to let the spiritual
unbidden and unconscious
grow up through the common
- this is my symphony.

The greatest challenges for mankind … or learn to be a free thinker | Wisdom for Future Leaders

The greatest challenges for mankind … or learn to be a free thinker | Wisdom for Future Leaders | The Mindset for the 21st Century | Scoop.it

Man nowadays puts himself in chains. Lacking motivation, rigid consistency, harmful thoughts and prejudices, daily routines. Life is about what it always had been. Conventions and commitments rule our daily life – we don’t dare to break out and think free. Our brain uses the old, obsolete patterns in thinking. We never ask us if everything makes sense and is adequate. Totally trusting we rigidly continue with our old scheme.

Everything around us could develop further – we still insist on our old thinking.

The book “Mindfire – Big ideas for curious minds” of Scott Berkun sees three challenges for mankind that prevent us from a life of a free thinker:

  • The First Challenge: Be wrong. It’s ok.
  • The Second Challenge: Other people
  • The Third Challenge: Be alone

Let’s see what these challenges are:

The first challenge: Be wrong. It’s ok.

The first challenge for us is to realize that we are so often wrong in what we think and believe. We should not pride ourselves on rigid consistency. We should rather put faith in our ability to learn and to develop ourselves further. Nobody decides in the end if old traditions are valid anymore or not.

The second challenge: Other people

The second challenge is not to rely only on these people who share our ideas and thoughts and stand behind us. Sharing our ideas only with these people would mean sharpening our prejudices. Prejudices against those who don’t agree with our opinion and who think differently. Just the diversity of different opinions is exciting. It gives us the chance to compare different attitudes and to learn from them. “Freedom grows best in diversity” says Scott Berkun.

The third challenge: Be alone

The third challenge for mankind is to be free from others, to be alone. Having time for the own thoughts and reflections. Hearing our inner voice what it has to say.

LEARN TO LOVE THESE CHALLENGES!

LEARN TO BE WRONG …

LEARN TO LOVE THE DIVERSITY OF DIFFERENT OPINIONS …

LEARN TO LOVE BEING ALONE …

Our Deepest Fear - Marianne Williamson

Karin Sebelin's insight:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson.
