Very interesting and true. When I learned to drive in the city that I was born and raised in, you would have thought that I had never been there. I would always get lost, but my neighborhood, I knew that place like the back of my hand simply from riding my bike and walking everywhere as a kid.

Even as an adult and have been in different parts of the world driving, I still remember how to get around in my home town. It's amazing how the mind can retain that type of information. I still remember the neighborhoods I use to bike through and walk in.

Certainly guilty of this growing up. I have a photogenic memory when it comes to directions and getting around. I think it will only get worse in the future for kids with the advent of GPS who might not take the time to build up a solid understanding of their surroundings.

Proud to say my mental maps are pretty accurate and so are my brothers, however I have two siblings that cannot say the same... I would definitely support the theory that walking through neighborhoods and riding bikes really helped to give me and my brother strong mental maps and geospatial awareness. Also, being a runner has also influenced my mental map making.

I probably won't map them to a group of Apps, since I think creating, or evaluating, or anything can be supported by an app, but not exclusively occur within an app.
what's the best way of looking at place of technology in learning. some people attempt to map a technology to a pedagogy, some attempt to map apps to toxonomy, are these approaches helpful? useful? simplify to convey the affordance of technology? why?

I'm new to the idea of using apps in this way. It seems a great way to connect with technology as a first step. I received a comment on another related post by Allan Carrington and I agree with what he said..."it's not about just mapping a pedagogical method or approach to an App or a series of Apps in a sequence. It is about mapping everything back to graduate attributes, values and capabilities"

Below is a list of some excellent books for your iPad. I have curated this list over the last couple of months and I kept adding to it every time I stumble upon a resource somewhere online.I don't know if you like reading books on your iPad or not but let me tell you this: having at least a couple of titles installed on your iPad would really be of great help particularly in those moments when you are stuck somewhere and have nothing to do but waiting. Reading is a habit ( luckily a good one ) that we can ACQUIRE by force of habituation at least in the eyes of Skinnerian theory.The more you read , the fluent you get at reading and the more used your mind becomes to the act of reading.
