Ty Guy's insight:

They did all the research on the atomic bomb in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This bomb changed the face of the earth and society as we know it. It scared a lot of people and they hated America for so many years. Some countries still don't like us. But we created this thing called the United Nations to keep all the countries safe. It was also created to keep the peace within the world. Wanted everybody to work together to make the world a better place to live. If we made that atomic bomb back then imagine what we can do with it now it would be horrible and more of a blast. It made some people think that we were a evil country. All we thought about was our self and they called us selfish. We our a military based country so we can protect ourselves. But our education is so low we are in 38th place. We can protect ourselves but we can't get the education to advance that.

Manhattan Project - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Manhattan Project was a research and development project that produced the first atomic bombs during World War II. It was led by the United States with the support of the United Kingdom and Canada. From 1942 to 1946, the project was under the direction of Major General Leslie Groves of the U.S.

Ty Guy's insight:

This was the 1st bomb ever to be used in a war. People today still don't use it. They are afraid to use it because of world destruction. The world might blow up like mass destruction. You could see the light of the explosion from a 20 mile radius. The cloud went in the sky 10 miles high. The radiation of the heat if u wear to close burned your skin and burned your clothes of your body.

Ty Guy's insight:

The atomic bomb was a bomb trapping atoms in a bomb and then letting them go to create a big explosion. They 1st created this bomb because the Germans were about to create one. They didn't want to be beat to it and the United states were scared. They were scared that Germany would use the bomb on us. So they gathered the most smartest scientist in the world. They gave them 6,000 dollars to do their research. But in the end they spent about $2 billion dollars on this thing. They were scared the bomb wouldn't work. It was very hard splitting atoms up and separating the metals they didn't need. They wanted to cause maximum damage. They couldn't do that with all this unnecessary metal in the bomb. The bomb was being built in New Mexico.

Ty Guy's insight:

It gave me some helpful information i didn't know about The Manhattan Project. Truman had to take over because FDR had died. Truman wanted to end the war with a bang. He did just that with the atomic bomb. He wanted to end the war without killing anymore of his soldiers. Some people wanted to use the bomb because they thought it was pointless for the soldiers to keep going back and fourth. So Truman decided the bomb was the best way to do it.
