THE SACRED ART Of ALCHEMY

THE SACRED ART Of ALCHEMY | KINSHIP COMMUNITY NETWORK | Scoop.it

Much to his astonishment, C. G. Jung discovered that the ancient art of alchemy was describing, in symbolic language, the journey that all of us must take towards embodying our own intrinsic wholeness, what he called the process of “individuation.”

As Jung wrote, “I had very soon seen that analytical psychology [the psychology Jung developed] coincided in a most curious way with alchemy. The experiences of the alchemists, were, in a sense, my experiences, and their world was my world. This was, of course, a momentous discovery. I had stumbled upon the historical counterpart of my psychology of the unconscious.”

The alchemists, over the course of centuries, had generated a wide range of symbolic images which directly corresponded to the anatomy of the unconscious which Jung had been mapping through his painstaking work with... (click title for more)

The Kinship Project - A Way Station for Eclectic Souls

The Kinship Project - A Way Station for Eclectic Souls | KINSHIP COMMUNITY NETWORK | Scoop.it

The Kinship Project is in many ways evolving as a Way Station for eclectic souls — for people interested in bridging insights in consciousness drawn from many sources.

We have become a virtual repository that one can enter each day knowing that often something will appear expressing a message from the gods and is exactly what we have been waiting for. In an old mystical book store we might find several small, intimate spaces with books, held in worn wooded shelves, within library like bookcases. We can sit or recline in simple comfortable chairs browsing the perfect book, that only moments before spoke to us from its resting place.

This might also be experienced as a kind of Vision Cafe adorning the walls are authors, poets, artists, seers, seekers, mystics, sages, prophets, gurus, and teachers bringing wisdom and blessings for all who pass within this space. Mixed within our sacred space one will often be treated to the sounds of all manner of music from the tinkling of chimes, to sacred chants, to the beat of drums, to the strains of classical and on into rock n’ roll. Interspersed in private spaces threads of dialog between seekers can be heard, important conversations exploring personal and communal subjects through the heart center. We gather together in this resourced library of life, as tribes have done for thousands of years....there is great manna in this circle.

Our virtual way station supports us as we continue to explore the temporal and transpersonal expressions of consciousness. May we all find within this sanctuary a moment where we can touch the mystery of our personal and collective journey through the cosmos.

Aloha, Namaste, Aho

Michael

I loved this movie and watched it over and over again. Thank you for posting this!
Eva Rider's curator insight, June 30, 12:26 AM

"My Dinner with Andre" was a movie that explored issues that in the 1980s when it first emerged, many of us felt a deep resonance with but wished we had been present at that table. Now, we look back on a film that time seems to have forgotten. The issues persist for the artists and soul seekers. Where are we now?

"Enlightenment is a Vision of the Spiritual Primary Selves" - Hal Stone, Ph.D.

"Enlightenment is a Vision of the Spiritual Primary Selves" - Hal Stone, Ph.D. | KINSHIP COMMUNITY NETWORK | Scoop.it

"Enlightenment is a vision of the spiritual primary selves. It is a beautiful vision generated by the search for spiritual reality and spiritual experience and spiritual clarity. As I have said, I honor that path, but it too-easily leaves out life and I am so grateful that I had this kind of understanding before it was too late to do all of the work I’ve done and to continue doing all of the personal work that always has to continue being done. Besides this, I am so grateful for all the fun of meeting and enjoying all of the people that have blessed my life these past thirty years.

If someone has an enlightenment experience, using the term as it is used in the East, does it mean that the individual has embraced all the selves? I don’t believe this to be the case. Instead, I believe it means that such people have devoted themselves to spiritual work and practice and have had a direct experience of god and/or cosmic reality/ cosmic consciousness. It is clear that many aspects of the great mystery become known to them and major changes in consciousness will occur within them.
But do they know how to live in relationship? Do they know how to raise step-children? Do they know how to earn money and invest it? Do they know how to deal with acting-out children? Do they know what their disowned selves are? Do they know when they are in a positive or negative bonding pattern? Do they know the difference between love and a positive bonding pattern? Do they know what happens in the unconscious when you convince people that they must be more loving and compassionate? Do they understand the reality of the “dragon energy” that is a part of them? Do they know that the powerful dark energy of Ghenghis Khan is a part of them?

It is very doubtful that this is the case. Source energy requires that we learn about these issues just as we have also learned about and surrendered to divinity. They are not mutually exclusive. It is our fate to live both sides in the psycho-spiritual path."

Hal Stone, PhD

“I thought of Jung as a noetic archeologist, [he] provided maps of the unconscious.” – Terence McKenna Most of us imagine that we know ourselves pretty well. Authentic Spiritual Writing - John O'Donohue

Authentic Spiritual Writing - John O'Donohue | KINSHIP COMMUNITY NETWORK | Scoop.it

"Authentic spiritual writing should have the danger of the 'two edged sword', it should be taut and hold that creative tension between redemptive illumination and prophetic challenge. Most of what passes for spiritual writing nowadays is safe, bland and repetitive. It is 'flat earth' talk that spreads smoothly on to any thought surface. It lacks any infusion of the raw otherness or the danger of the transcendent. The God behind it seems to be asleep. It is patently feeble at awakening or engaging any of the deeper presences in the soul. Spirituality seminars, religious discussion groups and prayer circles seem to be submerged under great white drifts of this repetitive snow-talk. When a gust of questioning or a ray of criticism comes through, this snow-talk melts as if it were never there. Bookshops are full of spiritual books that are often empty and inane. The mediocre and the banal are necessary in offering us respite from the searing fire of the soul. The banal quietly sustains the normality of routines that save us from falling totally into the abyss of ourselves. However, when banality is fitted with a turbo motor as so often in contemporary spirituality, it becomes grating and unbearable. The proper echo of emptiness is silence, not intensity" - John O'Donohue

Wounded Healer - James Hillman

Wounded Healer - James Hillman | KINSHIP COMMUNITY NETWORK | Scoop.it

"The wounded healer does not mean merely that a person has been hurt and can empathize, which is too obvious and never enough to heal. Nor does it mean that a person can heal because he or she has been through an identical process, for this would not help unless the process had utterly altered consciousness. Let us remember that the wounded healer is not any human person, but a personification presenting a kind of consciousness. This kind of consciousness refers to mutilations and afflictions of the body organs in an organ- or body-consciousness. Healing comes then not because one is whole, integrated, and all together, but from a consciousness breaking through dismemberment.”

"Transformation is about enlargement, and enlargement generally comes only from suffering. Stop and reflect on growth experiences. Invariably they arise out of conflict and loss, for consciousness only comes from the tension of opposites" - James Hollis, PhD.

"If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning."--CS Lewis

"The goodness which one man may express in his relation to another is derived ultimately from his own divine soul and is an unconscious recognition of, as well as gesture to, the same divine presence in that other. Moreover, the degree to which anyone becomes conscious of his true self is the degree to which he becomes conscious of it in others. Consequently, the goodness of the fully illumined man is immeasurably beyond that of the conventionally moral man." -Paul Brunton

"Do not try to become anything.
Do not make yourself into anything.
Do not be a meditator.
Do not become enlightened.

When you walk, let it be.
Grasp at nothing.
Resist nothing"

"Perfection is inhuman. Human beings are not perfect. What evokes our love – and I mean love, not lust – is the imperfection of the human being. Jewels from ― Boris Pasternak, Doctor Zhivago | KINSHIP COMMUNITY NETWORK | Scoop.it

“Reshaping life! People who can say that have never understood a thing about life—they have never felt its breath, its heartbeat—however much they have seen or done. They look on it as a lump of raw material that needs to be processed by them, to be ennobled by their touch. But life is never a material, a substance to be molded. If you want to know, life is the principle of self-renewal, it is constantly renewing and remaking and changing and transfiguring itself, it is infinitely beyond your or my obtuse theories about it.” - Boris Pasternak

“Nothing isolates a person from another person so much as the species of their perception” Boris Pasternak

Michael Goodman's insight:

When you read these words, one realizes that great wisdom  is coming through the author. And this wisdom is as relevant today as it was in 1956 (date the book was written) and 100 years before and 5,000 years before. True wisdom incarnates through some individuals in every generation. The words here induct, they are not just parroting, they are alive in depth and alive in the wonderment of the mystery.
