Everybody has some influence and that indicates the depth of their leadership. But then, why is it that some leaders can mobilize nations, and others, who have all the wisdom, all the knowledge in the world, have no influence?
"Leaders with a big ego and a Know-It-All attitude lead their teams in such a way that the people they lead are afraid of suggesting anything to them. If somebody musters the guts to suggest something, their recommendations are not considered or appreciated by the leader".

DO YOU FOLLOW A POSITION OR DO YOU FOLLOW WHAT THE PERSON BEHIND OFFERS YOU?Leadership is no position – it is action, as said through the word!Leadership – this word comes from the verb “lead” and leading means taking responsibility for other people and caring for them. Leaders take people on a journey, so to say. Positional leaders only see their point of view, their position. They try to control people. They see themselves as the boss. They rely on their rights. Now I may ask you:Do you follow someone who only sees his side of view – who wants to be a leader instead of “leading” and caring for people?Do you follow titles and positions?Or do you follow people who are able to convince with their personal and human side and create new leaders in encouraging and supporting others?BE SELECTIVE WHO YOU FOLLOW!By the way: A good leader sees himself not as a leader!A famous quote says:A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.(Lao Tzu)
something to think about..
Problems often arise, but not all are so urgent to be followed. We should concentrate not on too many things in life and in business – we should learn to focus on the most evident problem, the problem which is urgent and most important at the very moment. Besides it is a good method to offer only one solution for a small target group. Forces should be kept concentrated. Relationships, ideas, ways of thinking, so to say immaterial things, are always more important than material things. Too much weight on material aspects is only harmful. Money is not everything in life. And not to forget the benefits for others comes before self-interest. These four points together make a wonderful strategy for life and for business.
Life and business means knowing to concentrate on what is really important and will bring us success and personal happiness.
Here the four points in a short summary:
1.) Concentration on the most evident problem
2.) Only one solution for a small target group
3.) Immaterial things are more important
4.) The benefits for others comes before self-interest

Ethics and competence will pave you the way for successA great problem in business is that people lack the necessary business ethics. They proclaim integrity and authenticity and demand it from others. But at the same time, ironically, studies indicate that the majority of people don’t always act with this integrity they request from others.+John Maxwell says in the preface of his book “Ethics 101“:“There’s no such thing as business ethics – there’s only ethics.People try to use one set of ethics for their professional life, another for their spiritual life, and still another at home with their family. That gets them into trouble. Ethics is ethics. If you desire to be ethical, you live it by one standard across the board.”(Source: “Ethics 101″ by John C. Maxwell)
A human equationBehavior is a function of both the person and the environment (system).~ Kurt Lewin (1936)This means that one's behavior is related to both one's personal characteristics and to the social situation in which one finds oneself.Kurt Lewin (1890-1947) was a famous, charismatic psychologist who is now viewed as the father of social psychology. Born in Germany, Lewin emigrated to the USA as a result of World War II. Lewin viewed the social environment as a dynamic field which impacted in an interactive way with human consciousness. Adjust elements of the social environment and particular types of psychological experience predictably ensue. In turn, the person's psychological state influences the social field or milieu.( Sources: http://www.wilderdom.com/theory/FieldTheory.html http://www.bretlsimmons.com/ )

Here are some of Costolo's tips for successful leadership as he guides Twitter toward a possible entrance onto Wall Street.
1. Don't try to make friends."As a leader, you need to care deeply, deeply about your people while not worrying or really even caring about what they think about you," Costolo said. "Managing by trying to be liked is the path to ruin." Costolo admits this is easier said than done, but added it's important to avoid simply telling your employees what they want to hear. Don't apologize for making a tough decision, he said, be confident and clear when dictating what must be done.2. There are many different ways to be a successful leader.Often, particularly in Silicon Valley, successful CEOs are overanalyzed and placed under a microscope. "We take notes and we feverishly try to imitate what they've done to be successful," Costolo said. "The reality is, these people are the same people they were 10 years ago, and are going to be 10 years from now when it may not work at all for them. The very same person they are today that's lionized may be frowned upon 10 years from now." Leadership techniques change, so it's vital to understand there are many paths to success.3. Be transparent."The way you build trust with your people is by being forthright and clear with them from day one," he said. "You may think people are fooled when you tell them what they want to hear. They are not fooled." As a leader, people are always looking at you, Costolo continued. Don't lose their trust by failing to provide transparency in your decisions and critiques.Read the article!
It is so easy to make a judgment about other people – and we too often believe to know what other people might think and how they might react. But the truth is, we never really know what others see and how others feel. We only know our feelings and our point of view exactly and with absolute certainty.
Although we may believe that we instinctively understand how another person feels, it is probably never true. Each human being is different, each of us is unique – in his feelings and in his kind of thinking, we all have different backgrounds and instincts. Two apparently similar people can react in very different ways.
Showing empathy for others is certainly good and always to recommend, but we should learn that the same empathy for two different persons can indeed lead to different results and both can react totally different. We are never sure how others perceive our feelings and our point of view.
Therefore we cannot set up a general rule how to treat other people or how to effectively communicate with others. We can only give some good advice and useful tips.
What we should learn:
WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW OTHER PEOPLE SEE THEIR WORLD!
WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW OTHERS SEE US!
NEVER ASSUME TO KNOW OTHER PEOPLE!

Most creatives probably tremble at the thought of creating a business plan, and most likely keep pushing it to the back burner until eventually they need one.

It is so easy to blame others, to blame life and circumstances … we hardly want to take responsibility for our actions and for our situation. So often people excuse own problems via other people and life.
There are three kind of categories:
The Hang-Ups – People who blame life and outer circumstances for their problems
The Bang-Ups – People who blame past personal problems and hurts
The Gang-Ups – People who blame other people for hindering them
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!

1.) How well do I treat people from whom I gain nothing? 2.) Am I transparent with others? 3.) Do I role-play based on the persons I am surrounded? 4.) Am I the same person when I'm in the spotlight and when I am alone? 5.) Do I quickly admit mistakes and wrongdoing without being forced to do so? 6.) Do I put other people ahead of my personal agenda? 7.) Do I have an unchanging standard for moral decisions, or do often outer circumstances determine my decisions? 8.) Do I make difficult decisions, even when they have a personal cost attached to them? 9.) When I have something to say about people, do I talk to them or do I talk about them? 10.) Am I accountable to at least one other person for what I think, say and do? Be honest in your answers! (Source: "Becoming a person of influence" by +John Maxwell )
Blogging is a wonderful means to express and to present ourselves – our #expertise and our abilities. Through regular #blogging we are able to improve our #writing #style and quality. People get to know our feelings and emotions and our thoughts. We are able to mediate our imaginations and our inspirations in blogs. But regular blogging needs time – time that we often do not have as our lives are sometimes full of obligations. If this lack of time is of greater extent people often think about a #ghostwriter for themselves – for their blogs. They believe this is THE solution. Their problem is solved herewith they assume. They see a ghostwriter as a perfect substitute for writing the own blogs.
Donald Trump: “You have to think anyway, so why not think big?” Now you may ask: Why should I think big? “Where success is concerned, people are not measured in inches, or pounds, or college degrees, or family background; they are measured by the size of their thinking.” ~ David Schwartz Big-picture thinking brings wholeness and maturity to a person’s thinking – and it brings perspective. It’s easier to blame and flame people than it is to fix the crappy systems that are often the root cause of unacceptable performance and behavior in our organizations.Bret L. Simmons gives a brief explanation of the fundamental attribution error. It’s hold on us is so powerful that even when we are aware of it, most of us will spend our entire lives trying to avoid making it over and over again. Please share your thoughts!
"Even if you're not a genius, you can use the same strategies as Aristotle and Einstein to harness the power of your creative mind and better manage your future."The following strategies encourage you to think productively, rather than reproductively, in order to arrive at solutions to problems. "These strategies are common to the thinking styles of creative geniuses in science, art, and industry throughout history."Nine approaches to creative problem solving:1.) Rethink! Look at problems in many different ways.2.) Visualize! Utilize diagrams and imagery to analyze your dilemma.3.) Produce! Genius is productive.4.) Combine! Make novel combinations...5.) Form! Form relationships.6.) Opposite! Think in opposites.7.) Metaphor/simile! Think metaphorically.8.) Failure! Learning from your mistakes is one example of using failure.9.) Patience! Thank you so much - very informative!
There's one thing that all leaders do well. It's not managing or even having great ideas.
What differentiates good deciders from the rest of us is pattern recognition, the ability to see the generic and lasting patterns that underpin localized and ephemeral data. Why do patterns matter?Business leaders with good pattern recognition skills see another dimension to data -- like an aviation engineer who can see the wind flow around a wing when we see only a two-dimensional blueprint; the map-maker who can picture the entire landscape while we see only the contours on the page.Read the article!
