Innovation: What's New?

Innovation: What's New? | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it

Innovation is all about creating “the new”, but if you hang around innovators long enough you begin to get the feeling that while lots of “new” things are being brought to market, innovators continue to use “old” approaches to do this! Why Your First Act in Any Leadership Role (or Any Role) Should Be Designing Your Exit Strategy

Why Your First Act in Any Leadership Role (or Any Role) Should Be Designing Your Exit Strategy | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it

This week I found myself in several conversations with clients about exit strategies. As often as I hear from leaders who want to create something they can retire from or hand over to someone who can take it even further, I also hear from people who feel they are reaching the limits of their growth within an organization. Leading Through Volatility

Leading Through Volatility | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it

The psychological term for it is called "affect tolerance," or the ability to manage our emotional responses to outside events. These events are becoming more distracting, increasing our levels of anxiety and affecting our ability to keep focus on short-, mid-, and long-term goals.

Bias is defined as “prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.” In the business world, this definition also applies to concepts and ideas.

As business leaders we like to think we’re impartial, open-minded and objective in regards to new ideas, but the human brain doesn’t work that way. Our brain has a strong bias for information that supports our existing view of the world. It actively seeks out data that supports our viewpoint, and often ignores evidence that contradicts it.
