Innovation Management

Innovation Management | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it

I titled the post “Innovation Management”, but I intend to focus as much on the activity as on the underlying system. While innovation management is the name we use in our just released Social Business Taxonomy (IDC Doc #230541, currently subscription required, but shortly will be posted here). I’m a little wary of using “management” as a part of a market name. I think we maybe need less “manage” innovation and more “doing” innovation.

The nine lives of brainstorming

I read yesterday, in one of the leading papers in our country, that brainstorming is useless and doesn't work. This reporting announces, yet again, what everyone who stands on the outside of innovation circles has assumed is true - brainstorming, idea generation and the rest of the work that innovators do is hocus-pocus. Regardless of over 60 years of investment in Creative Problem Solving, brainstorming doesn't work.

The Right Balance of Greed

The Right Balance of Greed | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it

The problem with greed only comes with and excess of greed. The corporate crooks splashed across the front pages are the extreme worst of business owners and management.
