Leading a Young Team to Success

Leading a Young Team to Success | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it

It’s better for a CEO to describe success than to prescribe the exact methods employees must use to achieve it. Then, hire people willing to be part of a team that will be integral to this vision.

Egypt's fintech innovators pick up speed

Egypt's fintech innovators pick up speed | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it
There is new hope for Egypt’s large unbanked population thanks to recently formed financial technology (fintech) accelerators and the launch of services to bring people into the banking sector. Among recent developments, savings app Feloosy is matching savers with banking partners (see box). The Barriers to Innovation

The Barriers to Innovation | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it
It’s hard to be an innovator. You have to come up with cool new stuff, make it work, and get people to use it. Not easy! Depending on your situation, there can be barriers, active and passive, to being a successful innovator. Lots of people in business and government love to talk about how they’re innovative, and how they foster innovation. Hah! In all too many cases, what they actually do is build and sustain barriers so strong and so high that innovation is nearly impossible.

Understanding Innovation

Understanding Innovation | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it
“Innovation” may be a buzzword today, but for a long time, the concept was decidedly unpopular. Believe it or not, the mere notion of doing things differently once prompted profound suspicion. The accepted wisdom was that you should do pretty much precisely what your parents had done.

The web is past peak innovation: It's all negative returns from here

The web is past peak innovation: It's all negative returns from here | The Jazz of Innovation | Scoop.it
Open Source Insider In all the years I have been using FOSS software, the most common complaint I've seen about FOSS software is that the "design" is "terrible", "laughable" or some witticism about forks and eyes.

What's interesting about this criticism isn't its longevity, that's to be expected since for most of the people registering this complaint what they mean by "bad design" is "I don't like it." And, alas, no software can be everyone's ideal.
