Allan Savory: How to green the desert and reverse climate change | Video on TED.com

“Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert,” begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk.
Anne Caspari's insight:

wow. and it is always a good idea copying nature, especially with complex adaptive system. Amazing really, given that just "management" is just not doing it, we keep on insisting on flatland solutions. This talk gives hope.

Interior and Exterior

Interior and Exterior | The Integral Landscape Café | Scoop.it

The Evolution of Consciousness is nothing short of the evolution of everything we experience on the gross and subtle planes. Biological evolution is not separate from this. For it is the nucleus (governing center of consciousness) of any sentient holon that dictates the *use of resources* of that holon thus altering the structural landscape of its matter-energy composition irrevocably. Mind and matter are but the interior and exterior of a single unfolding. (Leo Marrs)

How I brought a river, and my city, back to life

How I brought a river, and my city, back to life | The Integral Landscape Café | Scoop.it
The Fez River winds through the medina of Fez, Morocco—a mazelike medieval city that’s a World Heritage site. Once considered the “soul” of this celebrated city, the river succumbed to sewage and pollution, and in the 1950s was covered over bit by bit until nothing remained. TED Fellow Aziza Chaouni recounts her 20 year effort to restore this river to its former glory, and to transform her city in the process.

Course: Transformation Intensive near Berlin, June, 2014

Course: Transformation Intensive near Berlin, June, 2014 | The Integral Landscape Café | Scoop.it

June 21 to 29, 2014: Transformation Intensive is a full immersion 9 days residential course on personal transformation and insight.

The rewards of taking the full Transformation Intensive are new perspectives and realizations about your hidden assumptions and thought patterns that you had no idea were “running you”.  These insights are very liberating and provide the necessary basis to regain personal power. Now, it will be much easier learning and applying the skills to dissolve these limitations, recurring patterns, these inner conflicts and incoherence for good.  Once you see the real source of what has been preventing change, the approach guides you on a new path to accomplish it in day to day life.  The insights of this course can be directly applied to personal, professional, and collective challenges.

It speaks to your own level of expertise and happens in a safe and light environment. Transformation Intensive will be thoroughly experiential. It uses methods and materials that can be seen through the lenses of Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory, Otto Scharmer’s U-Theory or Robert Kegan’s Immunity to Change work. They can also be cross-referenced with other more intuitive transformative processes, tools and methods.

Tree roots form a sort of "neural network" with one another, in an antifragile complex adaptive system

Tree roots form a sort of "neural network" with one another, in an antifragile complex adaptive system | The Integral Landscape Café | Scoop.it

"In this real-life model of forest resilience and regeneration, Professor Suzanne Simard shows that all trees in a forest ecosystem are interconnected, with the largest, oldest, "mother trees" serving as hubs. The underground exchange of nutrients increases the survival of younger trees linked into the network of old trees. Amazingly, we find that in a forest, 1+1 equals more than 2"

Aesthetic sensitivity. Precision Consciousness - James Hillman

Aesthetic sensitivity. Precision Consciousness - James Hillman | The Integral Landscape Café | Scoop.it

„ A theology of immanence means treating each thing, animate and inanimate, natural and man-made, as i fit were alive, requiring what each living thing requires above all else: careful attention to ist properties, their specific qualities. This plant needs little water; this wood won’t bear much weight and burns with a smoky fire. Look at me carefully: I am an aspen, not an oak. Notice differences, pay attention, give respect (re-spect = look again). Notice what is right under your nose, at your fingertips, and attend to it as it asks, according to its needs. Aesthetic sensitivity. Precision consciousness. “

James Hillman: Kinds of Power,

Anne Caspari's insight:

James Hillman, Kinds of Power. Such a beautiful book; worth while reading, again and again.. His re-viewing the concepts and constructs of; efficiency, growth, service (see exerpt) and maintance alone is worth while,  taking us way beyond hopelessly defining/limiting theories and definitions that invite polarities and dialectics. Opening up new stories, and new ways to treat this world. Only then he dives into a full appreciation and phenomenology of power in all its facets, shadow sides included.
