Since technology has made its way into most other aspects of education, why not the library too? We already do so much reading and research online for projects, papers, and general information anyway, so why not move the whole thing online. This infographic shows how the University of Phoenix is making an online library happen for their students.

By Bob Al-Greene "Print -- literature, journalism, you name it -- has experienced an extended obituary over the last decade, alongside the rise of digital media. But a recent Pew study found that even as sales of e-readers like Nook and Kindle grow swiftly, young people still frequent libraries more than you might think, and print books remain popular. Even the most plugged-in lit fans are not ready to abandon print as a dead medium. In fact, e-book readers consume more books annually, no matter the format."

"The American Library Association created an infographic to illustrate the struggles libraries have been confronted with since the recession began. We've been following recent budget cuts and coping mechanisms, such as fundraising videos and offering updated technologies, as part of our Libraries in Crisis series. But to see these things visualized and quantified helps put things into perspective. According to the infographic, WiFi usage in libraries is up 74%, and computer usage is up 60%, but funding has been decreased by 57%. Additionally, 62% of libraries report being the only location offering free public access to the Internet in their communities."
