Libya S.O.S.: Libya: Baghdadi Mahmoudi's Defence Committee Considers His Extradition 'Unlawful' | The greatest weapon is not a gun. Nor it is nuclear. It is information control | Scoop.it

Update 03.07.2012.

TRIPOLI — Libya's last premier, [Dr.] Baghdadi al-Mahmudi, who was controversially extradited from Tunisia to Libya to face justice, said on Tuesday that he was innocent.
"I am not guilty, not guilty, not guilty," [Dr.] Mahmudi told journalists during a visit to his prison organised by the authorities in an apparent bid to quash rumours that he had been tortured on his arrival in Libya.
"I am ready to be tried by the Libyan people. I am sure of myself and of my innocence,"
[ it is hogwash media but only this news I have now abou Dr. Mahmudi]

Update

"Amnesty International condemns the decision of the Tunisian authorities to send al-Mahmoudi back to Libya, where he faces a real risk of torture and other ill-treatment, unfair trial and possibly extrajudicial execution," said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International's Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa.

Amnesty International is also concerned that al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi may face the death penalty in Libya, which the organization opposes in all cases as the ultimate violation of the right to life.

"While all perpetrators of human rights violations must be brought to justice, by extraditing al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi, Tunisian authorities have not only violated their own law but also their international obligation not to return anyone to a country where they are at risk of human rights violations," said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui.

"Whoever is found responsible for authorizing this extradition, and for violating the absolute prohibition on returning someone to a risk of torture, must be held to account."

TRIPOLI, June 26 (Reuters) - A bomb exploded outside the Tunisian consulate in Tripoli on Tuesday, causing damage but no injuries, a Libyan security official said, the latest in a rash of attacks on foreign targets in the North African state.

Libyan police had no information on the identity or motive of the attackers, and a consulate official declined to comment.

= Tunisian lawmakers protest Libya extradition
TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) -- Opposition parties staged a walk out from Tunisia's assembly on Tuesday to protest the extradition to Libya of Moammar Gadhafi's last prime minister.
"It is a symbol of protest because the values of the revolution and human rights are being violated in the country," said Issam Chebbi of the liberal opposition Republican Party.

= Libya: Mahmoudi's Extradition - President Marzouki Decides to Submit to Constituent Assembly What He Described As 'Infringement of His Prerogatives'
Mr. Mancer also says President Marzouki believes that "the handover of Mahmoudi is more a matter for Tunisia's foreign policy than justice and that the foreign policy is the concern of the presidency of the republic," adding that in case of dispute, the case must be referred to the Constituent Assembly.

How the Arab League Has Become a Tool of Western Imperialism

How the Arab League Has Become a Tool of Western Imperialism | The greatest weapon is not a gun. Nor it is nuclear. It is information control | Scoop.it

It’s an intrigue befitting the machinations of classical colonialism in past centuries, such as the Sykes-Picot carve-up of the Middle Eastern Levant territories, or the betrayal of the Arabs after World War I, or the theft of Mesopotamia’s oil by British capitalists.

Only this time, it is Arabs who are helping the neocolonial powers to deceive and subjugate other Arabs. Enter the Arab League.

Over the past year, the 22-member organization has emerged as a useful deceptive cover for Western powers as they seek to redraw the political contours of the Arab World, and beyond, for their own strategic interests.

"... The threats against Syria, co-ordinated in Washington and London, scale new peaks of hypocrisy. Contrary to the raw propaganda presented as news, the investigative journalism of the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung identifies those responsible for the massacre in Houla as the 'rebels' backed by Obama and Cameron. The paper's sources include the rebels themselves. This has not been completely ignored in Britain. Writing in his personal blog, ever so quietly, Jon Williams, the BBC world news editor, effectively dishes his own 'coverage', citing western officials who describe the 'psy-ops' operation against Syria as 'brilliant'. As brilliant as the destruction of Libya, and Iraq, and Afghanistan. ... "

Libya prospers every day, thanks to new regime

Libya prospers every day, thanks to new regime | The greatest weapon is not a gun. Nor it is nuclear. It is information control | Scoop.it

In the last few days Libya has been making the world rejoice over its new developments in the field of law, democracy and tolerance.

...

In short, Libya is alive and well, every day getting better under the new regime. Apparently, the Libyan authorities scratched their heads and realized that the people will not be able to stand that much happiness at once.

Libya abolished the law forbidding under threat of imprisonment (three years to life) to praise the regime of Gaddafi and speak warmly about the colonel and his children.

The remnants of "green" power can now safely have nostalgic conversations: from now on they will not be imprisoned, maybe just shot on the street, but not jailed. Indeed, there is law in Libya.

Libya, Citizen's Investigation into War Crimes in Libya About Us

The CIWCL’s members are driven to examine the clues partly out of a natural bias against accepting the mainstream narrative of the war. This bias is frequently supported, upon investigation, by signs that our suspicions were valid. Considering the overwhelming contrary bias to dibelieve the Libyan government of its day and credit each rebel accusation, the CIWCL provides unusual and thorough – and thus useful - insights, whether "the world" wants them or not.

#Libya Muammar Al Gaddafi - THIS DANGEROUS DREAM

#Libya Muammar Al Gaddafi - THIS DANGEROUS DREAM | The greatest weapon is not a gun. Nor it is nuclear. It is information control | Scoop.it

A few pages into Muammar Qaddafi's 'Escape to Hell, and other stories' a strange feeling came over me; I didn't realize what it was at first. Under the heading of Part I: Novels, I read the first sentence,

"The city has been with us since ages long past, but regard its plight today!" It quickly became apparent this was no ordinary work of fictional entertainment with characters and a narrative plot. It wasn't going to fit into any genre of post-modernist minimalism, much like Qaddafi himself does not fit into any one place in the world as a political or religious figure.

The push into Africa has more to do with destabilizing the deeply troubled Democratic Republic of the Congo and capturing its strategic reserves of cobalt, tantalum, gold and diamonds.

More accurately, the US is poised to employ a scorched-earth policy by creating dangerous war-like conditions in the Congo, prompting the mass exodus of Chinese investors. Similarly to the Libyan conflict, the Chinese returned after the fall of Gaddafi to find a proxy government only willing to do business with the western nations who helped it into power [26].

The European Union’s recently offered contribution of $12 million to joint military operations against the ailing Lord’s Resistance Army suggests signs of a coming resource war in Central Africa [27].

20th June 2011 no forget!

NATO fired eight of them, of 900 kilos each. The spy had placed markers in each house, including the children’s bedrooms. The missiles were dropped a few seconds apart.

The grand-parents had time to get out of their house before it was destroyed. It was already too late to rescue the children and grand-children. When the last missile hit their house, the Marshall had the instinctive reaction to shield his wife with his body. They had just stepped out of the door when they were flung fifteen meters away by an explosion. But they survived.

When Khaled arrived, there was only devastation. His wife, whom he loved so much, and the child she was bearing were gone. His children, for whom he would have given anything, were crushed by the explosions and collapsing ceilings.

The houses were left in ruins. Twelve mutilated bodies were lying under the rubble. The does, hit by fragments, were agonising in their pen.

Major powers demand release of ICC lawyer from Libya
In an attempt to give a legal pretext for the detention of the ICC team, Libyan NTC authorities have alleged that Taylor was carrying documents for Saif Gaddafi that were judged to be a threat to national security...

The Zintan “rebels” were the first to drive into Tripoli last August, dealing a critical blow to the Gaddafi regime. The French government later confirmed that the airdrops started last June, under the cover of the NATO-imposed “no fly zone.”...

Saif Gaddafi had been his father’s front man for increasingly intimate relations with the imperialist powers, particularly Britain, from 2004. ...

In an editorial last Friday, the Australian reminded Libya’s NTC that it “owes its existence to the US-led NATO intervention—strongly backed by Australia—that ended the Gaddafi tyranny.” Demanding the immediate release of Taylor and her ICC associates, the newspaper said it was in “Libya’s interests” to “pass the test presented by the incarceration of Ms Taylor and her colleagues” because the Libya “receives desperately needed aid from the international community.”

While claiming, of course, to be motivated by the desire to see that Saif Gaddafi obtained a “fair trial” via the ICC, the editorial reeked of the hypocrisy that has saturated the entire regime change operation conducted in Libya. The sole concern of the Western media, and their respective governments, is to ensure that Gaddafi’s fate is decided in a manner that prevents any evidence coming to light about the real geo-strategic calculations and machinations involved in the Libyan intervention.

Libya: New AFRICOM And NATO Beachhead In Africa

Libya: New AFRICOM And NATO Beachhead In Africa | The greatest weapon is not a gun. Nor it is nuclear. It is information control | Scoop.it

Testifying with General Ham was Admiral James Stavridis, jointly commander of U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

AFRICOM was created by EUCOM under the tutelage of dual EUCOM and NATO top commanders Generals James Jones and Bantz John Craddock in the years before achieving full operational capability - that is, being launched as an independent unified combatant command - on October 1, 2008. In the year preceding that, during its October 1, 2007-September 30, 2008 initial operational capability, it was subordinated to EUCOM. Almost all of Africa's now 54 countries (with South Sudan becoming an independent nation last year) were in EUCOM's area of responsibility and all but Egypt (still covered under U.S. Central Command) are now in AFRICOM's. As such, AFRICOM encompasses more nations than any other Pentagon regional command and all but one nation in a continent that is the world's second-most populous, with Africa's population having surpassed one billion last year.

The war against Libya was the inauguration of AFRICOM as an active military force capable of waging large-scale combat operations, as it was NATO's first war in Africa, building on a strategy first unveiled in the massive Steadfast Jaguar war games in Cape Verde in 2006 to launch the global NATO Response Force.
