Google+ also developing into a mini-blogging platform?

The conversations (easy-going) and sharing (so far not oversharing or broadcasting) seems to be be strong parts of the Google+ platform. But there also seems to be a lot of people starting to use the tool as a mini-blogging platform, where "the blog post" are published into the stream, instead of onto a blog platform, and thereafter linked-up through Google+.

A couple of examples:

Chris Brogan testet out two ways of blogging in Google+, and made a post about it, outside of G+.

After week one I shared my thoughts about “What Google+ Means for Education.” I’m on week two now and the big questions are:

- Do I really need to join another social network? Answer: Yes.
- If I join Google+ can I give up Facebook, Twitter, and blogs? Answer: No.
- What is the benefit of each?Here is where each social media platform shines and why you use each.

It's been a week since I snagged a Google+ invite, and while it's fun to hit the reset button on my personal social media life, what I'm really interested in is how the service is going to impact teaching and learning. There's a good chance that Google+ is going to become a powerful communication and collaboration tool in the classroom. In fact, it could end up being a serious education game changer.

Google recently announced the launch of their new socially-oriented group of services called Google+. The suite of products clearly is designed to compete against Facebook, the reigning champ of social. Currently most schools spend a lot of energy blocking or discouraging use of Facebook in school. Will the same happen to Google+, or will Google’s healthy relationship with education help open the door to social media in the K-12 world? In this article we will take a look at how Google+ could be used in schools for both students and staff.

The first reaction among many educators is that Google+ could work well. As a post on the Apps User Group points out, there is a lot of potential with Google+: better student collaboration through Circles, opportunities for blended learning (a combination of offline and online instruction) with Hangouts, project research with Sparks, and easier school public relations with targeted photo-sharing, updates, and messaging.
