Man, you can't hide anything on the Internet anymore, can you? Okay, so we already knew that the Google Games effort is 100 percent happening, thanks to some nerdery at Engadget that found clues referring to it in the recently released Google+ (essentially Google's answer to Facebook) source code.
However, in that same source code, TechCrunch has found a direct link to the official Google Games logo, courtesy of a tipster. Delete the scoop?

Recently added sprites (see images below) include a question mark, icons for dining, movies, map pushpins, star ratings, emoticons and more. One of those icons (see bottom), which looks like two little people, could be involved in some kind of social search feature, Rohrweck guesses. He also found an icon with a chess symbol on it, backing up his earlier discovery where a product called "Google+ Games" was referenced by name.
However, the most intriguing find had to do with four icons, all whose names begin "shared_circle." This seems to imply that Google+ will allow you to create Circles containing other Google+ users, and share those with others. Delete the scoop?

It looks like Google has some big features planned for Google+, including a Google Games product.
Google invested more than $100 million in Zynga last year. The investment was designed to be part of a larger partnership, sources have told us. That partnership, we believe, will culminate with the launch of Google+ Games. And you can bet that Google+ will prominently feature games from the social gaming giant. We doubt it will be long before we learn more about Google+ Games. Zynga is expected to file for its IPO in the next few days, and we bet there will be a few references to what kind of partnerships it’s exploring with the search giant. Delete the scoop?

After releasing Google+ and taking a major swipe at Facebook, hints in the source code indicate that Google will be gunning for social gaming giants like Zynga next.
This isn't a total surprise -- previous job listings on Google's website have been in the social gaming space. Something like Google Games is sure to help hedge bets against Facebook. Delete the scoop?

Having a difficult time getting your honeydew list checked off because you're trying to level up in Mafia Wars? You may want to just chuck the whole sheet of paper in the trash. Buried deep in Google Plus' source code are a few curious references to at least two new services that may very well be destined for the invite-only social networking suite.
The first is Google Games, the tech giant's first venture into the world of social gaming. Also on the company's white board is Questions, a likely love child of Google's $50 million acquisition of Aardvark. Delete the scoop?
