Danes say no thanks to low-wage jobs

Danes say no thanks to low-wage jobs | The Global Village | Scoop.it

If the want ad calls for an unskilled worker, it is a safe bet that the position will not wind up being filled by a Dane

Even as the unemployment level has soared in recent years, a growing number of unskilled jobs in Denmark are being filled by people from places like Romania, Poland and Thailand.

Employers say that  the jobs go to the foreigners because Danes simply do not want them and that the nation’s social benefits are so high that it does not pay for Danish workers to take low paying, unskilled positions.

Why are athletes wearing coloured tape?

Why are athletes wearing coloured tape? | The Global Village | Scoop.it

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic and Italian striker Mario Balotelli have been seen sporting colourful sticky tape on their bodies, so what's behind this latest sporting fad?  Probably to keep the 'stupid' in place - when the 'inventor' (or 'profiteer' as we prefer to call them) says there have been too few scientific studies to prove his claims, what he means is that there is no science behind it, and that it is as 'scientific' as those stupid plastic wristbands people used to buy.  Mind you, if you want to buy some 2-inch wide silver Gaffer tape to improve your athletic ability I can sell you some at a knock-down price.  Shall we say £10 per 6 inches?
