Welcome to the Global Village

Welcome to the Global Village | The Global Village | Scoop.it

This new blog will draw from a broad range of sources to highlight some of the values, thinking and lifestyles that people experience and subscribe to around the world.  I think, despite all the developments in social media and communication, we tend to confine ourselves to 'people like us' and can miss some of the rich (and strange) diversity out there.  Allodoxaphobia is the pathological fear of other peoples' opinions; in this curated site I want instead to highlight the ways in which we are the same and the ways in which we are different.

Kevin Friery's insight:

This is fascinating research - how the future language of Britain is being incubated, how children use langu now, and all based on a real-life dataset of 40 million words, so we can infer some credibility.

Kevin Friery's insight:

It is great that she had instant access to evidence-based medicine through the National Health Service - one of the real Jewels in the British crown.  Thank goodness she did not have to rely on something useless like homeopathy, which has led to so many people in the Indian subcontinent dying because it is completely ineffective.
